I plan to visit London in Mayfor 4 short days. I would like to stay at a Hotel that is convient to as many attractions as possible and easy to travel from. Not to pricey, but nice. Maybe 3 star and up...any suggestions will be appreciated.
I like staying at the Premier Travel Inn London County Hall. The rooms are basic, but comfortable, the price is reasonable, and the location is fantastic! It is in the old London city hall, along with an expensive Marriot (at the other end of the building), art galleries, the office of London Eye (Millenium Wheel), and the London Aquarium. It is next to London Eye, and across the Thames from Big Ben. It is handy for trains and tube service, as it is a short walk to Waterloo, Embankment, and Charing Cross Stations. It is also close to Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, #10 Downing Street, and more. The tour buses (both lines) stop next to Westminster bridge, which is next to County Hall. The hotel has a great staff, and decent restaurant. There are many nice places to stay in London, but this is my favorite.
This summer my family and I would like to visit the UK, saying that I am looking for and inexpensive way to enjoy this trip, I have a 13 yr old child whose truly excited, what about hostels, or home exchanges from the USA, to the Uk. Any tips? Thank you. Kindest, Ms L
You might try the University of Westminster or the University College London. Both rent rooms from mid-June to mid-September. U of W has some rooms with kitchens and private baths. Another possibility is the London House Budget Hotel. Your 13 year old might enjoy the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London. The tickets are free, but you have to request them by mail at least 2 months in advance. You can request up to 6 tickets. No kids under 8, though. Have fun!
I might suggest the Rubens at Victoria Station... it's a mid-priced hotel for London... you are going to spend at least $150+/nt for anything 3 star or over
On our most recent visit to London, we opted to stay at the Pavilion Fashion Rock n Roll Hotel. It's far from sedate and that's what we loved about it - similar to a Las Vegas Luxury Hotel with a rocknroll theme. It is a small hotel with about 30 rooms and every room in the hotel has a fun, funky theme. If you like flash and the 70's disco era, you'll love it here like we did.
