Frith Street / Compton Street corner: Caffé Nero is now a chain almost as ubiquitous as Starbucks, but this is where it started. And the crossroads it presides over is the real heart of Soho as well as being the center of the known universe. This is where the different communities that make Soho (French, Italian, Gay, Theatrical, Musical) mix and merge with the outside world. It is the best place in London, a city devoted to people-watching, to people-watch. Good times are on a Saturday afternoon, with a newspaper (make it the weekend Guardian), or late at night (around midnight) for a cappuccino when the weather is hot, as the crossroads goes off with a mix of late night revelers, diners and strollers. Magic. Oh, and did I mention that Mozart lived across the street?
