I am seeking some recommendations for a reliable and safe language immersion center in Costa Rica. My goal is to go this summer for a week or two. I found websites online but I am also hoping for some real suggestions. Any pleaseee?
I have studied at Intercultura in Heredia 3 times, and taken my husband once. We love it¡ Heredia is a medium size town near San Jose in the Central Valley, but much smaller and less intimidating than San Jose. You can get to lots of Costa Rica from there in your spare time. The school is great. The home-stay family picks you up at the airport and takes you to the school the first morning. You can walk to school from most homestays. The school gives a walking tour of the city the first day of classes, so you'll know your way around. The curriculum is great! They make learning so much fun, and your tuition covers morning Spanish classes each day plus dance, cooking & sometimes jewelry-making classes in the afternoon. Spanish classes are small, so you get individualized attention. The professors are all college educated. My husband also took classes in Manual Antonio at another school, and he can't wait to get back to Intercultura, it's so much better. I can definitely recommend it.
I would also recommend intercultura, without a doubt. It was highlighted on Samantha Browns passport to latin america. Intercultura is like a language school gem. It's unassuming building does not foretell the quality of teachers and cultural activity available within it's walls... I found the school before samantha's show aired, and let me tell you it was the experiance of a lifetime. I'll never forget my time there. the school also has a tour guide who is very helpful in arranging tours, and there are also school coordinated tours to take with other students. If you are going to Costa rica and want to learn spanish, I would say don't bother going any where else....
if you are looking for the school go to samantha browns passport to latin america, costa rica, and she has provided a link....
