My husband and I just came back from a cruisetour in Alaska last month. It was our first cruise, as well as the first time to Alaska. The state was everything I thought it would be,plus much more! We visited the usual ports of call, but the highlight of our trip was flying on a floatplane to Taku Lodge, where we enjoyed a wonderful salmon dinner (as if you can't get salmon anywhere else in Alaska!) and such amazing beauty and serenity! Not to mention the breathtaking views everywhere you looked. The flight itself was..well, I'm at a loss for words to describe the majesty of those glaciers, mountains, and wildlife. If you ever wondered if there's a God, you'll know for sure there is One once you've been to Alaska! We definitely want to go back; there is just so much more I want to see and do. Next time, we want to spend more time in Denali National Park. And we'll also take another trip to Taku Lodge, for sure! I also would give my right arm to be able to spend an entire season there! Any suggestions on how to do that? I would love the whole experience! My final statement...If you've ever thought that Alaska was some cold, barren ,far-off "country", then you are entirely WRONG! It's heaven on earth!

I totally concur. We had our first land/cruise experience in Alaska in June and it was everything we expected. Our visit to Denali was too short as well. I look at our pictures and videos every day. I put one of my favorite pics as my desktop. I can't imagine anyplace in the world that could top this experience.

Thanks for your response, Catsing. I'm curious...which cruise line did you go on and how did you like it? We went on the Princess Sapphire, and it was wonderful! The whole ship experience itself was perfect! I can't imagine another cruise line being any better than the Sapphire! We definitely will more than likely go on the same ship, again. Like I said before, the whole experience was just "other worldly". Hope your ship experience was even half as good as ours! And I'm still hoping to get a few ideas about how I could spend the summer season up there---what type of employment is available, places to live, etc. Seems like some of those Alaskan folks could offer some advice. I'd really be greatful.
