There are more Bald Eagles in Alaska than any where else in the States. If you love Eagles you must visit Alaska. You can see them frequently in the summer along the shore but they gather in groups the winter. November you can see them in large numbers in Haines. In March-April they gather in Homer and Eagle River. In spring they return to the sea for mating and fishing.

Robzilla hit the nail on the head with his statements about eagles in Alaska. I was fortunate enough to visit Homer one weekend in April during a 10.5 month work assignment in Anchorage. If you're interested, have created a musical slideshow of that weekend with lots of eagles photos at:

With the exception of about half a dozen photos taken during a quick trip to Homer to drop off a pick-up truck to be barged to Kodiak, and two photos from a September day in Healy, AK that fit the lyrics so well I just had to use them, all photos in the show were taken between 7:41 pm on 04/15/05 and 10:47 am on 04/17/05.
