well it all depends om how much you want to spend. It is very expensive. South of the river is a little better, the latin quarter, the 14th, 15th or even the 13th district is better and very near by. Get the let's go europe book, and look for accomodations, small hotels will cost you around 140 usd per night. Try hostels, if you don't mind, pack light, 2 jeans and a lot of t-shirts, comfortable pair of tennis shoes and a pair of flip flops. My wife, our son and myself just got back from europe ina 2 weeks by car, including paris. If you happen to work for a hotel chain, or a family member or friend, use their discount, you will need it in paris. Is beautiful, I used to live there in the 80's, but it has changed a lot, it's better. Be aware of pick pockets and the gypsy women on the streets.

My wife and i have found that the cheapest ( and best) way to stay in paris is to rent an apartment. You get the real neighborhood experience and can shop locally and cook in your own kitchen. We usually stay in the St Germain area, and can get a great apartment for around 900-1100 euros a week. there are many websites to check out ...Parisbestlodge.com is the best in my opinion.

Hello everyone!
My boyfriend and I are traveling to Paris in October and we were thinking of renting an apartment but I'm kind of scared of paying for the apartment and that once we get there there is no apartment or it is horrible. Any advised?

Thanks!

Hi...we got a great idea for staying at an apartment when we went to Paris with our kids. We got the contact off a DVD - Travel With Kids Paris - available at www.TravelWithKids.tv - but the apartments would be great for couples or small families. Ours was a one-bedroom with a fireplace in the bedroom, a living room, and a small kitchen. It makes it nice (especially with kids) if you want to stay in for some meals. Breakfast is espaecially easy with a kitchenette. And it saves money - no huge food bills all the time! The apartment we rented through www.FrenchyRentals.com - it was about 500 Euros for the week.
