Of my travels, this city holds the most amount of memorable moments for me. I went to Notre Dame, walked around the church and was in awe of the structure. I had more time and decided to walk up the winding staircase to the top of the church. In doing so, I had, not knowing, ended up in between the two bell towers right at 12noon. The sound of the bell, because only one is working, was a feeling unlike I had felt in the world, literally. With the view of the city of love, and feeling of the bell of Notre Dame was nothing more than incredible.
I also enjoyed a cruise on the river Seine. As the sun set I saw couples walking up and down the rivers edge and lights of the bridges was breathtaking. S'acre Coeur was, what I felt, a temple of white. The sky was as blue as blue could be and the scene was incredible. Once again, the view of the city from there was awe-inspiring. The L'Ouvre was amazing enough that I plan to go back to Paris just so I can take in the beauty of more priceless art. And all in all, Paris has the best coffee shops, bakeries and boulangeries! J'adore Paris! ~Alicia D.~ |

For anyone traveling to Paris, here are the musts, in my opinion, that you should see: Notre Dame, the Arc de Triumph, the Musuem of the History of Paris, the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay, the Musee d'Arme, the Eiffel Tower, Verseille, the Jardin Luxumbourg, and the Conciergerie. The top of the list I would say, is Notre Dame...I know for me, seeing Notre Dame for the first time brought me to tears. You could easily just go to Paris to see Notre Dame and call it a day: words cannot describe it. The Arc de Triumph is amazing up close and at a distance. Seeing this monument in real life makes you realize how powerful of a person Napolean Bonaparte was...I did not get to go to the top of it, but it's amazing. The Champs Elysee is something you should see as a first time visitor, but there's nothing special there...if you're new to France the Champs Elysee is a good place to start because the same shops you find there you see all over France, but that's the thing...the only thing Parisian about it is the street, other than that, nothing else special and Parisian and French are not exactly one in the same. The Musee d'Orsay is just a beautiful musuem: the building is just beautiful and the collection of Impressionistic art here is just amazing, beautiful, and larger than life. The Louvre, need I say more? Amazing collection of art, and the building itself is beautiful and has an amazing history all to its own, but definately pace yourself in this musuem or else you will overwhelm yourself! The Musee d'Arme, the building is beautiful and its supposed to be a very interesting, informative museum. You should see the Eiffel Tower of course, but to me it wasn't anything that super special. It's a must see, but just look at it, take a picture than go somewhere else. Even during the low season the lines to go up the elevator are ridiculously long and you have to pay I think and then there's the stairs, but that's a lot of stairs to go up! Verseille, if you can see this, Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Arc de Triumph and the Musee d'Orsay you can call it a day and forget the rest of Paris! Nothing can compare to Verseille...it is a wonder of its own...This history of Paris musuem is also very informative and interesting, I highly recommend it. The Jardin Luxumbourg is pretty and when I was there there was a photo exhibit and a little concert, so that's nice. The conciergerie is very interesting, and what's cool about it is that this was where Marie Antoinette and Rospierre spent their last days before being guillotined, so for that reason, it's still worth about 30 min-hour of your time. So for anyone planning to go to Paris, make the most of it, enjoy yourselves and have a magical time there and I hope that Paris opens the doors for you to want to explore even more of France. Bon Voyage et bon chance!

Paris With Kids: Many people don't think of Paris when they first throw around ideas for a family vacation, but our two boys loved it there! With help from Travel With Kids Paris (a DVD found at www.TravelWithKids.tv), we found plenty to do that all of us enjoyed - the Louvre (positioned as a Art Treasure Hunt - an idea we got from the DVD), the Eiffel Tower, Sewer Tour, baguettes and crepes in the park, Siene River Tour, climbing Arc de Triomphe. The kids had a blast and loved the little things like walking down narrow streets and stopping to get a chocolate crepe, riding the Metro, and picnic-ing in front of the Eiffel Tower (the park there has mule rides, go-karts, merry-go-rounds. Travel With Kids Paris also gave us great ideas on where to stay (we got a nice apartment near Sacre Coer) and how to feed the kids. The kids couldn't wait to come back - and that was before we took them to Disneyland Paris! So, the moral, Paris can be fun with kids too!!

Paris is amazing.
We were told how mean Parisians were, they weren't -they were just reserved. Maybe if one acts and dresses like an Ugly American it might not be a good experience. The art is mindboggling-I can't believe the famous works I saw. Paris was clean, bright, and full of history. I have no bad experiences to report. Go there. |

During my visit to Paris in 2005, I was amazed by what the city offers during the illumination tour I took with fellow travelers. It was a great moment in my life knowing I could not believe I was in Paris walking and enjoying great architectures, city lights and of course, fashion. I enjoyed the late dinner I had then the river seine captured my curiosity seeing all the lights ... oh, it was a wonderful experience I will never forget and would like to visit Paris again and again.
