I've been a big fan of Rick Steves' Travels in Europe for many years. He is definitely a big change from Sam's more bubbly, extraverted style. I've enjoyed her shows for several years too.
Sam is the type who really knows how to have fun. So many would enjoy traveling with someone like her.
But I imagine for some people Rick would be a more ideal type of traveling partner.

Hopesong, you are so right. SB is the life of the party and Rick is the guy who you want leading the museum tour. Two very different travel styles, to be sure, but only Rick has a travel book series. [Sounds like SB has a publishing opportunity!]
I've been a passing acquaintence of Rick's for a few years, and can tell you that what you see is what you get. He's very friendly, funny, still hasn't figured out he's famous, and he's very bright. But still, I'd listen to SB's nightlife recommendations first. At least here in the US.
