I just got my DVD in the mail today. I've watched the first two episodes so far. It's a great show. Thanks Sam and TC. I don't buy many DVD's anymore but I love travel sets like this one.

Can you please answer a question that has been plaguing me about the release of passport to great weekends season 1--- does it or does it not include great cruise weekend as one of the episodes?

Hi hotelfan, What I'm guessing is that the Cruise Weekend was (annoyingly) not "really" part of the Great Weekend series and instead, more of a marketing and PR tie-in with Carnival Cruise Line. I too was wondering the same thing but I bet there's some sort of contract in place where it couldn't be released on DVD. They are re-playing the episode this week so check your listings.

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately i can't check my listings for the next airing because i don't have cable. I rely only on the items i have on video from a friend who used to tape the shows for me (i have most of the great hotels, passport to europe, girl meets hawaii and only a handful of the latin american and great vacation homes and a few specials on tape) they no longer tape for me so i can only rely now on the release of dvds in order to watch Sam's shows. So i was kinda hoping for more releases. oh well. kinda like the old mardi gras moments - just travel channel ads - never to be seen on dvd.

I got the set for 14.00. I was very excited to get it. I watched all the 18 eps. I have to say it was a very strange change from Great Hotels. and even a little different than Passport to Europe and Passport to Latin America.
But I liked it. It gave a more personal view of Sam and her life and the places she goes- it's less touristy and more casual. However it's hard to apply it to my life and my interests, the way Great Hotels and even some of the other shows do- since they are more touristy.
But I still find myself enjoying the shows and looking forward to next season. It still remains to be seen if this is a show i will want to watch on a frequent basis the way I do with Great Hotels. But I'm looking forward to finding out.
