I recommend what a friend in the publishing industry did for his honeymoon - a journey around the world. It took 90 days, and he and his bride were quite happy with the accomodations, all first class in Asia, India, Africa, and Europe. They cruised, flew, and on rare occasions rented a car, but I was assured that they were able to keep the price just under $100,000 nonetheless. [The reception was 4 days long - I only made it through 2.]
On the other hand, if that is a bit too precocious for you, how much DO you have to spend? That will be the telling of the tale.
Otherwise, if you can only afford Tuscany, that's my recommendation for a May honeymoon. Reserve early, it's the begining of the tourist season.

If you're on a budget, a cruise is a great way to go for a honeymoon. In May, the prices are lower than in the summer b/c schools are still in session. For a honeymoon, I would recommend at least get an oceanview cabin if not a balcony. Cruise line is a personal choice, depending on the itinerary, price, and your style.
Although it's not the Caribbean, I personally like Bermuda as a cruise (or even flight/land) vacation. We had a great time there, and it's a short trip from the East Coast. For our honeymoon, we splurged and took a Mediterranean cruise (just like Samantha Brown's). If you'd like to see my cruise reviews, go to igougo.com and look for my entries (under the name cruisingbug).

As seen on Great Hotels...The love room at the Library Hotel in New York. We got engaged there, New York can be really romantic and the Love room was everything romance should be!
