Surprising as it may be that I'm the messenger of this news as no one else yet has mentioned it, the most recent Disney Holiday Special that Samantha has been dutifully working on the last few weeks appears tonight at 8 Eastern. Much Goofiness no doubt will ensue. Please watch it.

(Of course others may have tried to get in and failed. I just had to type in the entire registration information all over again a minute ago - a most unfriendly log-in sequence guaranteed to chase posters away. Haven't heard from Kelsey in a while, in fact, although nice to see IntlDoc has come home to roost.) Happy Holidays all the same, everyone.

Holy Mickey and Minnie Mouse - I just looked at the screen to see that I'm "Capt. Tuttle" now with capital letters, a period, and even a space between the words. The new registration in action, clearly. Once upon a time, long long ago in a land far away with only posh hotel beds for Samantha to hop onto (perhaps with a pea unfelt underneath), I registered as that, but found the forum reduced me to "capttuttle" instead. As some very revered people here have turned that into "captuttle" I've come to prefer that as well, but looks like I must assume the more stiffly correct one now. It is still me, but how the years and experiences can change someone - I like to think for the better.

At least I haven't been sent to jail yet under this new Police State regime. Wink

Again, Happy Holidays, Sam and everyone, and do watch Samantha tonight.

P.S.
Well, one more post here as of course we can't edit previous ones anymore. As I recall more correctly on this sleepy and dreary morning, the Princess does indeed feel the pea under the mattress, doesn't she? So please excise the "un" before "felt" in the post above to give Samantha her proper status in the world from the rest of us slugs and mere mortals. And with that, I end this curious conversation with myself. (Applies magic wand from Disney World and promptly disappears.)

No matter how you spell it, you're OK. I'm sure glad you're still around. I thought we were going to lose you over that "jail" thing. Keep up the posts on this forum. Happy Holidays !

For those of you who like myself, unfortunately missed tonights’ premiere, the program will be repeated at midnight tonight and at 8:00 PM EST on Friday. Midnight’s a bit late for me during the week, but I’ll be sure to watch the program on Friday.

Thank god for DVR. I'll watch it as soon as I can--can't wait!!! It combines 3 of my favorite things: WDW, Christmas, and, of course, Sam! I wonder how it will be different from the other special? No more baking giant gingerbread houses???

Kelsey -
Good to see you back on the forum. We have missed your comments and ideas. I feel the same way, I'm like a kid at Christmas. And combine that with Samantha, and you've got a wonderful holiday. I hope Santa brings you everything you want. Happy Holidays!

Whew! I tried to reply to this an hour ago, but the pesky new policies finally caught up with me. Notice the underscore? Rrr... oh well. And then the reply window wouldn't pop up.

Yeah, I guess I haven't been posting much. Though I try not to post if I don't really have anything to contribute.

I just watched the first half, because my DVR decided to record only 31 minues. What I saw was good--in that first scene, when Sam takes off her coat to reveal a halter top, 1)Wow Latin America made her really tan! and 2)I've been in Florida during Christmastime and it was about 60 degrees (especially at night)--I have a feeling she was a little cold. Though I noticed long sleeves for the rest of the time.

Wow I really want to go back to Disney! Especially now--I've never been during the holidays. It looks amazing. Though I'm not sure if I'll watch the parade. I've never actually seen a Disney parade, but it's true that the lines are (a bit) shorter during the parades.

Expedition Everest looks AMAZING! And how exciting is it that Sam got to go on the ride with the crazy/genius imagineer guy with the earring that you always see on the Inside Disney specials (yes, that's my second-most-watched thing on the TC). Must go back... but I've no idea when that will happen (sob).

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Ok, I definitely posted a reply yesterday, but it didn't show up. Maybe I clicked the X instead of Post. Who knows. Confused

As you can probably tell from my modified username, the pesky new forum stuff caught up to me. Now I'm no longer a senior member. Oh well, I'll work my way back up soon enough.

Yeah, I haven't been posting much lately because not much has been going on. I try only to post if I have something to contribute to the discussion. But this topic I can comment on-woo hoo!

For some reason, my DVR decided to record only the first half of the special. So far, what I've seen is great! Though you can tell the Travel Channel did it, not PineRidge, sadly. Though I guess the TC itself gets more perks when it comes to Disney. Like Sam riding Expedition Everest with the crazy genius Imagineer guy that's always on the Inside Disney specials (my second most watched thing on the TC Wink). How awesome to go on the ride with one of the main minds behind it!

I've yet to visit Disney during the holidays, though I would love to. It looks absolutely amazing. One of my friends will be there at Christmas time, and I am green with envy. I made her promise to take a million pictures.

I had better things to say YESTERDAY when I first posted, but I can't remember now. Oh well. Maybe later it will come to me.

Can't wait for tomorrow when I can see the second part! Smile

Kelsey, I got logged in with a simple single click this time, so you just never know here anymore, and I'm tempted for sentimental reasons to return to "capttuttle" myself, but then I would lose that 9/02 registration date. The really strange thing is suddenly seeing all your past posts now have your new hyphen in your name. History has been rewritten somehow.

I've also at least tried to restrain myself from unnecessary posts, but I'll slip out briefly to point out tomorrow you'll see the end credits did claim it as a PineRidge production and, more importantly, Stan was back behind the camera once more, which is very heartening to see. Hope your college applications are going well. There are few things more fun than writing thrilling essays on how much you want to go to various different schools.

Well, that's odd. I now see both your incarnations are on this thread, Kelsey. I'm now "Capt. Tuttle" even in ancient posts. I remain baffled by all of this.

I'm seriously curious about why you thought it wasn't a PineRidge show... How did it seem different to you?

I loved the special and Disney World during the holidays. To me, the difference perhaps had something to do with switching from Disney World and Disney Land with Samantha only being in Disney World. I understand that both places wanted to be showcased but it took away more Sam time in Disney World and that screen time that makes it more personal. Just a thought! I really did enjoy it.

Between my work schedule and the times this special will air, I don't think I'll see it until Xmas. Now I've got something to look forward to in addition to catching up on sleep.

Was it PineRidge? It just seemed different. I didn't get a chance to look at the credits, but I know many past Samantha specials were done with different people, more cameras, etc. This special, while it definitely had Samantha's flair and enthusiasm, seemed a bit more scripted and showy. Which isn't necessarily bad, but just different. I don't know. The part in the hotel, though... that brought me right back to Great Hotels (I finished the second half tonight). It was really weird for me, after practically growing up watching Sam on Great Hotels and then watching her jet around the world, and then I saw Sam, the one I saw in Latin America, right back in a Disney Hotel. It made me feel, as Sam said, "all warm and fuzzy." OOOOh and the Cinderella Castle suite scene... wow, that was like eating Godiva chocolate with Johnny Depp while watching Chocolat in France. In short, I was in heaven. Cinderella was always my favorite princess, and WDW has always been special to me, and I always wanted to live in that castle. And to have Sam show me around was, again, Godiva. What a treat--it was like Sam's little Christmas present to me!

Also interesting to see Sam at the World Showcase in Epcot after I've watched her explore the actual countries (except Japan... maybe later!).

I sooooooooo want to go to Disney for the holidays. And when I go, I'll do it right; I'll see everything, the lighting of the castle, the Osbourne lights, the Mickey's Christmas show thing, everything. But maybe not the Haunted Mansion as Nightmare Before Christmas seriously gives me the creeps. I can't even play that level in Kingdom Hearts (Disney/Squaresoft video game).

So if it was PineRidge, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to not give you credit. It just seemed different to me, and I know that specials in the past have been filmed, etc. by other TC people. The camera work and such was great though. Smile

The Nightmare Before Christmas layover is only at Disneyland. The Haunted Mansion in Walt Disney World has had some recent upgrades, mostly to the bride and storyline.

Phew! I guess I'll be safe then. The Haunted Mansion was the site of a major freak-out when I was four... I got scared when the voice in the elevator told me there was no turning back. I like the ride now... but Nightmare Before Christmas might be a little too much.

It's the two-faced mayor that really gets me. No one's head should turn like that. Eek

Appropriately enough, “Disney Holiday Magic with Samantha Brown” will be airing tonight at 8:00 and 11:00 PM EST. I’d like to wish everyone here a very Merry Christmas and here’s hoping that all your dreams come true.

I must say, this is the perfect way to chill out on Christmas Eve. Watching Sam in Disney while enjoying a candy cane (though thanks to my cold I can't actually taste it).

I watched Christmas Vacation earlier, and Love Actually last night. And I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be viewing A Christmas Story tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! Smile

Okay, after looking at the credits, it was definitely PineRidge. I only questioned it before because they hadn't done the other specials and there are some parts in the show that seemed more like Disney stock footage. But there are definitely parts where I can see Stan's touches.

So, guys, I'm sorry if I didn't give you your props before. The special was great--good job!
