I saw a Passport to Great Weekends commercial! It suprised me because I didn't realize what it was first, but it caught my eye because I saw someone who REALLY resembled Sam (which, it turned out, it was).

I actually saw 2 commercials, back to back, after the first one (which was extended later). The funniest one consisted of Sam walking into her office to find to a couple of guys covering every surface with aluminum foil.
--"What are you doing?"
--"Nothing."
--"You're foiling my office?"
--"Aren't you supposed to be traveling?"
--"I was. The new show is called Passport to Great Weekends. It's a weekend thing."

It ends with Sam opening a cabinet causing an avalanche of pingpong balls to pour out. "They would never do this to Bourdain."

I like the new commercials... much better than in the past. They're showing Sam more in the spotlight now... yay!

I like the new commercials too! They are funny and I love the part when Sam says, "I'll take that, that's mine, thank you." The Travel Channel should highlight her show a little more.

When did she say that? Have I missed one? I saw the foil one and the elevator one.

She says it at the end of one of the "foil" commercials. One of the guys is walking out of her office with what looks like a small wooden statue they were just beginning to foil.

I love the jacket that Samantha is wearing in the "foil" commercial...anyone know where I can get one?

Why were they foiling everything in her office during that commercial? is there a reason for it? anyone know?

I think it’s intended to be a practical joke, although I have to admit I’ve never heard of it before.

I think it was just a funny, random thing. Like a joke when someone goes away to mess with their stuff. It's not supposed to make sense.

But it's a commercial. Perhaps we shouldn't overanalyze it. It's meant to catch your eye, entertain, and encourage you to watch the show.

I think the statue is supposed to represent the Daytime Emmy Award. She says,"That's mine."

Foiling an office is a practical joke...I've seen it done before. And I've seen pictures of people using Post-its to cover an entire office. (I guess it's a co-worker with too much time on their hands!)

I thought the statue looked like something she may have bought on one of her trips.

I really don't like Samantha's new commercial. I don't like to see that side of her. You feel like telling her "chill out". I always thought she is very pleasant and likeable. After these commercials, I feel like I really don't want to watch her show. I would rather her show interesting clips from the new show.

Dude. She's acting in that commercial. Besides, how would you feel if someone foiled your office? Haha. I'm sure she's just as nice as she always is in the new show. And she doesn't seem like she needs to "chill out" in the elevator commercial. It's just the whole funny thing like "*sigh* I have to work all weekend. You know, get a massage, go on a cruise, check out night life..."

I like the commercials. They're proper commercials, which is nice, and something Sam's shows have never had.

They aren't even commercials. Nothing is for sale. They are called "promotionals" where they advertise up-coming shows. Liking them is not what they're for. They just grab your attention as to what's coming up. I think Samantha had fun doing them. Scott, you need to "chill out".

Hey, let’s give Scott a break here. I have to agree with him in part, and say I think the promo’s Samantha did for PTLA were a lot more relevant to the show’s content than the new ones are.

I wasn't trying to give anyone a hard time, just trying to point out another side of the argument.

And for all you guys that would prefer the clips from the show... well they have those too. I saw one today, of Sam with the Pussycat Dolls (which, honestly, weirds me out a bit. I mean, she did that thing with the Rocketts. Okay. But the Pussycat Dolls? Hmm well I'm sure it will be interesting).

The show has just begun, let's see how it is! And I'm sure it will be a bit different from what we're used to. I hope this new crew is half as awesome as PineRidge.

Sorry about that, Scott. You're right, David, I was a bit harsh over nothing. Those promos are what they are and who cares if you like them or not. They are different, for sure. I give them credit for trying something different. I'd love to see Samantha in a movie role. I bet she wouldn't be bad.
