Colombia Road was once typical of thousands of streets in the East End – small, two-story houses that open off the street. On Sunday mornings (and Sunday mornings only), the whole street comes to life with London’s best flower market. It spills into little courtyards just off the street, and there are some great garden-related shops to browse in. It is at its most manic from 12:30 to 1:00pm, when the flower sellers try to sell off their stock. Get there at 2pm, and you’re too late – everyone’s gone, and the street goes back to being normal. But do try to get there – it is an unforgettable experience.
