Hi Tiffany, I happened to see a promo for this venture for the first time on the Travel Channel today and decided to check it out. I have just finished reading through all your journals and enjoyed them very much. Thank you for sharing all those deep thoughts and perceptions. I watched the Lebanon, Kansas clip because I have not seen or heard anything about that monument since 1961. I was eight years old and on a memorable road trip from Maine to Colorado in a Rambler station wagon with my Dad and ten year old sister. We have a snapshot of us standing on either side of it. I never realized how far off the beaten path it was. Sadly, there were no hot dog or cotton candy stands back then either, as I recall. My father died 29 years ago but I would love to be able to ask him why he took us there and how he happened to find the thing. So thanks for the many heartfelt heartland memories and for this odd circumstance for recalling it. I followed your travels on Five Takes and will keep an eye on this Destination project. I am happy to see the Travel Channel making use of your talents! Mother Orange
What a message! I can't explain what an honor it is to be the trigger of any fond memory, let alone one as treasured as what you described.
I love travel mostly because it creates memories more vivid than anything I've created at home. I'm so excited about this assignment and can't wait to see what comes it.
I almost forgot! Hey Kev! Glad to see you in the good ol' forum again .
My itinerary isn't specific at all... i'll usually land in one town and go where the road takes me. If there are festivals or quirky happenings, that'll sometimes changed my direction. If you have any suggestions let me know!
