I think the idea of the show is a great idea but...

The host seems to be a bit high and mighty. He appears to me like the "rich kid" from the city attempting to show the average person where they can go to have a ecologically friendly vacation. When in actuality most people would never be able to afford to go to these places. Why I do like the basic idea of the show. I think a more down to earth host along with more time being spent showing the viewer about the environmentally friendly techniques that are used would keep more people watching.

Thanks

I watched the show and thought the concept of the show was unique. The host shows his passion for traveling and his charismatic energy is contagious. "Pura Vida"
It was interesting to watch someone who can connect with people from other cultures with respect.
looking forward to the next adventure.

I thought the show was refreshingly "real" and the host came across as very sincere, but I would be interested in learning about eco-friendly destinations a little closer to home.

I think the producers of this show got a bit confused. The title is Ecoluxe. I really was hoping to see more about the resorts, and less of the pompous host walking around getting digs in at indigenous people's expense. (the Woodstock reference was great...I'm sure the Peruvian farmer has an extensive wardrobe) This show was disappointing. Someone convinced Jayms that he was more interesting than the places he was visiting, and that was a huge mistake. I hope they reconfigure the show and put the emphasis where it belongs, but I'm sure that's unlikely. I won't be tuning in again I'm sure. Just not much interest in watching Mr. Look at how great I am tromp through the wilderness or whine about his bike ride. I'd love more information about the resorts though.

I couldn't disagree with "asander" more; The host was very respectful to whomever he met. A "rich kid" facade? Why? Because he was quietly enthusiastic, interested in the environment (literally and eco-friendly), and siezed the moment(s) and enjoyed himself at times...? 50 lashes for the ungrateful host who was doing exactly what most of us watching the program wish we were doing. Smile I'm not trying to start a war here, and I do agree with one point"asander" was trying to make -- although I realize the premise of Ecoluxe is "five stars can be green", many viewers might enjoy a variety of prices. In addition, I also agree that to see "the man behind the curtain",so to speak, and get a behind the scenes tour, would be an added bonus. The problem's not with the host, a few more smiles and chuckles would be great, but Jayms is a good man for the job. A little adjustment in programing and they're good to go.

I loved the show and love the idea. The host appears sincere, knowledgeable and enthusiastic to learn about not only the “lux” accommodations that he goes to but also about the culture and people of where he visits; and, of course, the spotlight of how we can take our wish to be luxurious while being eco friendly and conscious. I liked Jayms’ comment “I prefer the term responsible travel” which I believe some people can loose sight of when they travel. After all, when we go on vacation – the point is to relax and not stress about our lives or even protecting and conserving our planet and the people and cultures on it. Jayms show us that both is possible. I’d like to know more about Jayms’ resume; where he has traveled and also what eco consulting he alluded to. Explain a bit more how he plans for the show to tie it together. The first show did spotlight a domestic destination as well as other world destinations. I hope the show will try to appeal to all travelers, travelers on modest budgets as well as travelers that have unlimited funds. As far as asander comments – before you speak I think you should do your homework a bit more. “rich kid?” huh? How did you get there? A couple of things to consider, while I know this form is to spew forth your opinions on the world and the people in it, remember any first episodes of any new show are always like a new relationship, we are all a bit uncomfortable while we get the feel for the show and the host. Usually a few episodes into it, we get a vibe. Give it a chance. I hope travel channel gives us the pleasure of seeing Ecoluxe for years to come.

Our family is planning an Eco-lodge vacation this year and we looked forward to this show with great interest. We'd hoped to see other eco-friendly resorts that cared about their environment and their impact on it. To say that we have been disappointed in this show would be putting it mildly. Our impression of the host is the same that others have posted. He seems to care little for the environment and no respect for the lifestyles of the people living there. Very little if anything is mentioned of the Eco-resorts and what they have done to earn that title. Almost the entire emphasis is placed on what the host does for "fun" while there, including ballooning, horseback riding, and kayaking. Travel Channel, drop the adventure spin and be true to the show's title. Let people know too that less luxurious rooms are usually available at these eco-lodges, including information regarding prices that are comparable to other "not-so-green" vacation hotels. Keep your viewers informed if you really want to "be green" and persuade others to be more responsible to the environment and take "greener" vacations.

Have to say, regrettably, that I too was disappointed with the host. on the bright side, glad to hear I wasn't the only one who was rubbed the wrong way by the host. Smile

The passion seemed to be missing and very little emphasis and information was given on the environmental and socially responsible aspects of the resorts and tour operators he used.

Maybe he'll grow into his role but can't say i'll be watching another episode...

I think the show tries to pack too much into each episode. Perhaps only 1 or 2 destinations per episode. Really show why each destination is eco friendly and what each destination has to offer at the resort and surrounding activities. In the first look episode, it seemed to elude that each episode would focus on each destinations green attributes and the positive impact each destination has on its community. I think the editing and cutting probably show the host as abrupt. Perhaps fewer destinations per show, more thoughtful time with Jamys’ conversations/interviews with the proprietors of the resorts and the positive impact local the community and the earth. Also, I appreciate the high impact cutting to keep the pace moving, however, this is not the movie “Black Hawk Down” – we are not in a war and need to feel our senses confused by so many things happening at once. Slow it down. Show the underwater dives, the whales and underwater mountains. Show us more of each resort like the different rooms available, show us the “guts” of what makes it green – solar, water treatment, recycling etc. Also, what is the cost? How do we get in touch with each resort? Websites? Tour Packages? Can we hire Jamys to be our guide since that is his background? Tell the rest of us that are interested how to do it – especially if we lack the know how. I will keep watching. As I said before, every new show grows in its first few episodes.

I too would like to get more practical information about the destinations, but doesn't that mean we are all generally interested in the show concept but just want more? Some of you in this forum are discarding the show like there are other options that will give us first hand view into these places. The show is new and may need to "breath" a little, but it has a ton of potential. I'll continue to watch for sure.

I completely missed it and really want to see it - it featured the Maravu Resort on Fiji, where I went on my honeymoon. Does anyone know how I can watch the episode?
