This outing was covered extremely well by the host and her staff. It captured the fun, friendship and the common love of history that is found at these hunts. It is truely, for the majority of us, an incredible feeling to be able to touch something for the first time and then to be able to share it with our family and friends and anyone else that cares to learn about these relics.

Actually, I have watched all the Cash & Treasures episodes from the start and they all have been great for myself and my family to watch. It is nice to see something on TV that shows what others have for hobbies and that there is more to life than MP3 players, video games and cell phone texting.

I look forward to the Travel Channel continuing this great show. Thanks!

You are right! This series is a great demonstration that there is a huge diversity of hobbies out there that are not only fun, but you can reap rewards (besides the personal health benefits!).
As for us relic hunters... you hit the nail on the head! To be ther first to touch a pice of history that you know you just saved from rottying away is an awesome feeling! And if you can tie that relic to something/someone specific... you have just added to that history!
This show definitely shows the excitement we have in our hobbie and the care we have with preserving this history!

Smile I am VERY glad that The Travel Channel has decided to put out another show on my favorite hobby, Metal Detecting for relics!! There are so many people who enjoy this wonderful hobby and I hope there are many more episodes!! I'd love to see a show exclusively about it!! Big Grin

Loved the show and the way relic hunting was portrayed. This is a wonderful hobby and more people should be aware of it. I hope to see more episodes like this in the future.

It is unfortunate that the Travel Channel has been the latest to fall victim to Larry Cisnia's false carismia. Many a good and decent person has experianced his ugly/dark side. He is a very poor representation of the hobby of metal detecting.

I'm an archaeological technician, and what I saw on this show was horrible. Yes, it is thrilling to hold something in your hand that has not been touched in over a 100 years, but just how long will that find last without proper conservation. Not to long. A few years maybe. If this was a town site, how do these artifacts relate to other artifacts found at the site. What did learn about the people who lived here. They've destroyed the site so it is unlikely that it could ever be properly interpreted. They have destroyed a piece of history that can never be replaced.

We used systematic metal detecting periodically and record the location and depth of the artifact. These are measured in from our datum point. This helps us to them into context with any foundations, wells, etc.

Kirsten you should drop this guy like a hot potato. His methods are an abomination. Try doing a show where you work an archaeologist and his/her crew. You won't make any money on the deal, but you might just learn something and be able to educate other in the process. That is where the true treasure lies.
