I was called by at least 5 friends today telling me it was airing.....but as soon as I found out who it was "featuring", I dismissed any possibility of viewing it. Larry Cissna has singlehandedly caused more damage to our hobby than virtually all other relic hunters combined, and I'll be darned if I'll let him represent ME.
I have a list as long as my arm of friends in the industry Mr. Cissna has liabled. Hobbyists, manufacturers, and publishers....you name it. There are literally HUNDREDS of hobbyists that are banned from his website for nothing else but disagreeing with him. We collectivly represent a MUCH larger of segment of the hobby than all the Cissna fans combined....and the Travel channel is doing itself a great disservice by alienating everyone that isnt a Cissna worshipper. From what I understand............the travel channel did a bang up job producing it............but as far as our hobby's representative....they missed the mark by a LONG shot. There are many many other representatives in the hobby FAR more suited to represent us in a realistic fashion, that are MUCH more reputable. Just one glance at a few of Mr. Cissnas posts on his own website should convince even the most skeptical observer. Talk about delusions of grandeur!!

You know what is really getting old? It is the continued banter between the two internet sites of who hates who! I'm sure the hobby would have been better represented if John Kenderick and his loyal followers would have done the segment? Maybe not because its not like they didnt have thier own problems with the archaeologists at Brandy Station for the Digging in Virginia hunt.

We all as metal detectorists have enough to worry about with the new laws and bans on our hobby than to continue to "throw stones at other people's windows, when our own are made of glass". Maybe all of you "men" who dislike each other need to get on a high quality reality show and have a nanny take care of you and set the rules!

I believe the show was produced very well and came across well for the hobby regardless of who you personally like or not. I believe the intent of the show was to show the joy of the hobby of relic hunting not to cater or take sides in regards to some "Hatfield" and McCoy" feud between website owners.

And in the end I'll still watch all the Cash & treasures show because they are good viewing for the whole family and you know what? I dug plenty of relics before the forums and I'll still dig relics after the forums!

Thanks to both of you for your feedback. Streak, maybe you should view the show before dismissing it. What kind of program would you want to see? Please do not carry over arguments from other websites into ours. This is a forum where everyone gets a chance to share their opinions, as long as they are respectful of other users.

a total joke of a show.

A great show. We here in the Northwest just love it. Kirsten does a fine job at presenting things to hunt for. I watched the one on truffles and was able to go out and find some right away. Got even more than she had said on the show. So yeah it is accurate and enjoyable! Great job to the show and Kirsten. What a sweetheart she is!!!

Sorry to say it but There is an party pooper in every bunch.

I thought Larry Cissna was a very pridefull,but small human being. I believe him to have some personal problems of the MENTAL kind. His actions are cowardly at best. He fears change and progressive minded people. He has derailed many who may have had an interest in detecting.

He may be hiding on a TV screen or behind a computer, but he is a LOSER , BEWARE!
