Looking ahead on the show schedule (Jan 17th) I see Kirsten will be hounding red plume agate in West Texas. Unless I miss my guess she's Marfa bound and will be at the famed Woodward Ranch.
Nice thing about this location is you can find calcite & gem labradorite, too. (But everyone goes for the red plume.)

Plus, you're only a dozen miles or so from rare 'thistle sgste'. It's hard to come up empty because even if you can't find the thistle, you're surrounded by petrified wood, jasper & aragonite.
Happy hunting,
-Rocky.

'thistle sgste'???
I type too fast when I'm excited by rocks. Of course I meant agate.
Well, I'm envious of anyone who has more Marfa plume than I, and I currently have none. I keep an eye out for it at rock & gem shows but not many people have it or will part with it.
All in all it was a great adventure. Well worth the roughing it.
