I lived in a house that the roof was shaped like an A. It was 3 stories and about 5,000sq.ft.It was still being built but we had the 2nd and 3rd floors finished. I started heading up the stairs towards my room just as I got to my room I heard my name being called from downstairs, I yelled back just a minute, then the stereo in my room came on. So I turned the stereo off. Went downstairs and nobody was there. Later that night some friends came over and we were playing cards in the dining room and a towel came flying out of the bathroom. Which was about 10ft away. We all looked at each other and went to look inside the bathroom and nothing, nobody was in there. Many people had experiences in that house. I moved after two years. A lot of people said it was the shape of the house, others said the house was built on Indian burial grounds.I was always scared in that house. Never went back.

I have another ghost story ,one my friends was driving up on his motorcycle and when he got inside he turned pale and couldn't talk, we asked what's wrong? He said he saw a lady walking across the lawn with a white gown, he thought it was my grandmother until he came inside and saw her sitting in the chair.

hi legalmania
It could very well be the land that you built the house on. Indian burial is very sacred ground and if it is disturbed the spirits will be very active in letting you know they are there.
I grew up in a home that my parents wanted to add an addition on to the back of the house, upon doing so they stirred up many spirits that liked to hide in the basement. I always had the feeling I was being watched and the creepiest feeling was when I was going up the stairs to leave the basement. The stairs had no back board on them, they were left open, so every time I stepped on a stair I felt as though some one or something was going to grab my ankle and pull me down the stairs. I am older now, but I still have the same feelings when i am in the basement. The town is called Cheektowaga (land of the crabapple tree) it was Indian territory in the past.
