I saw something weird on my way home from work today. At about 2 p.m. (central time) I was headed west on I-20 close to the I-20/I-35 mix-master in Fort Worth (Texas), when I saw a B-26 Marauder, World War II-era bomber fly across the sky about 350 feet in the air, headed east, towards Dallas. I was intrigued to see such a site, since I LOVE those old warbirds from WWI and WWII. Being the avid history nerd that I am, I'm positive it was a B-26. I rolled down my car windows to hear those awesome radial engines, but guess what? There was NO NOISE from those engines. I was close enough to the plane to have heard some sort of engine noise! Those old World War II-era radials are pretty loud! Then the bomber fell into a slight turn and appeared to be headed north, and the thing just faded out from the sky! There was not a cloud anywhere near this old bomber, so I know it didn't fly behind one. I looked several times for the bomber to reappear, but it never did. I thought about contacting the FAA to see if there really was an old bomber flying around Fort Worth, but I decided not to. I figured they'd think I was some kook or something.
Shutter, if you're reading this, I remember you posting something a while back about a car approaching you from behind and then vanishing once it got to the point it should have passed you on the highway . . . but there was nowhere for the car to exit the highway from. Maybe it was something like that?
I don't remember hearing about "ghost planes" before, but it could be a possibility, I guess.

bossman...way too bad no video camera at the time....I know that's not something most people keep in their car...but...and you definately would have heard them if they were there...I would contact the FAA just to see...can't hurt anything...maybe an airshow or something.

Like I said then bass man, I wonder how often such things happen without people fully noticing?
We sometimes become so engrossed in other things we fail to notice what is going on around us.
We just had the QC Air Show two weeks ago and I live a short distance from the airport. I can back you up on the noise them babies make.

I've heard of them here and there, the only ones I've heard of are in Florida, victims of the Bermuda Triangle.
