My cat does that too at times. That's how i know somethings around because he'll stare at it or try to pounce it. Usually at that time he goes into NinjaKitty StealthMode. It's funny.

Your kitty was definetly seeing something if it was not a flying bug of some kind.I have had my dog lay on my bed and start growling and staring at a doorway but no one was there. Animals have keener senses eyesight,smell and hearing than a human being. If it bothers you then just tell the spirit to leave. They hear you and listen also.
