I've been reading the discussions about Ouija boards, looking for ways to dispose of one. I'm trying to decide what to do with my ten year old board. (check out my other message about it.)

Here are my questions:
1. Why burn a Ouija board? And if I burn it, should I burn it away from my home so the ashes aren't on my land?

2. Is it bad to give a Ouija board with a sketchy history to a willing party?

3. Is it unethical to sell it? (Kinda feels like "dirty" money to me.)

4. Is it bad just to keep it, stored away in the closet for a few more decades? (Makes a nice Halloween story... but sometimes it freaks me out when I recall what happened.)

Don't burn it, don't give it to someone else (particularly if you have had made Contact with it) and don't just store it. I wouldn't sell it either. (We've all heard stories of the damn things showing back up in the house after being sold or given away, but I don't know if these are true or not.)

Some say to bury it, far from your home, others find a dumpster, again, not at their home and dispose of it.

I don't like Ouiji's and wouldn't have one in my house.

if its got a bad history i'd try to cleanse it before getting rid of it. There are many ways to cleanse stuff of energies. If you have someone who knows what they're doing they can clear it for you. Otherwise some strategies including putting it under water over night or leaving it somewhere safe outside during a full moon (or even better in the water under a full moon). Search cleansing crystals etc on the web on pegan/wiccan websites and it should give you more details.

After that if you're still worried about having bad readings through it (to you or someone else) I'd maybe break the board [outside] and then throw it in a dumpster.

Yes, thank you, you should try to cleanse it, if you can. (OTOH, if you are really scared of what it has brought, you may want to just get rid of it.)

You can also bury it in Kosher Salt outdoors for a cleansing. How long to leave it is a personal preference, but at least overnight.

Breaking the board is questioned by many, as is burning. Disposing of it by burying it, after a cleansing, should be the best (but most time consuming) option. Do not bury it on Hallowed Ground (like a graveyard.)

Just to caution you, i heard if you burn it, then the spirits *both good, AND bad* are freed and haunt you. I would try to get a professional's opionion! Goodluck, and my God bless you!

Interesting question. No, not really. There's been times I've thought about getting rid of it because it sort of freaks me out, but then I don't. So, it ends up deep in the closet and every year or so, I may look at it. I'm not a pack rat as I only have about 5 boxes of stuff (photo albums and other sentimental items) that I've kept over my 30 years. This is one of the odd items that I've kept because... ? Maybe because it's sentimental??? I have no clue.

I think after that last incident in 1994(?), my friend and I got holy water and attempted to cleanse the board. We tried playing with it again every once in awhile during 1995, but it was like static.

In 1998, when I moved into a place by myself, I thought about displaying it on the wall (like picture), but it freaked me out too much.

I've moved 10 times since the creation of the board, and yet I still have it. Don't really know why. I've even gotten married, so my life has totally changed from 11 years ago, but it's still around.

I played with a Ouija board only once and it belonged to my best friend at the time. Nothing happened to me that wasn't already happening and no contact was made. My friends' family told me they were Satanists shortly afterward. Before the board they were Jehova's Witnesses.

that doesnt mean that the board changed them. They could have been into that before the board and just decided to tell you afterwords...

Everyone on here is funny! Just throw the thing in the trash. It is just an object. You do not need a board to communicate with the dead. It is just a stupid tool. Nothing bad will happen to you if you just trash it. Better yet, put it inthe recycle. Being paranoid about such things will invite stuff to happen to you. Don't be so uptight about stuff like that and it will all be okay. I promise! Hey, I threw away several decks of tarot cards and nothing bad ever happened. Besides if something bad happens, it has nothing to do with stuff like that. It is just life.
Another thing, talking to the dead can be dangerous. Unless you really know what you are doing, just stay away from it. You can get possessed.

Well i only do it in one way... break it into 7 pieces and bury each piece in different locations then sprinkle the ground with holy water.... thats what i do

Throw it in the trash, burn it, break it, store it away, give it to a friend. It doesn't matter one little bit. It's like breaking a mirror, crossing on the stairs or walking under a ladder, nothing bad is going to happen because of it!

I haven't owned a Ouija Board in at least fifteen years, I don't know what happened to my last one, but I had many scary experiences with it including references to my grandmoter by persons who didn't know her name or my family history. Anyway, I decided to buy one recently, and so I bought one from a lady on eBay. After I bought it, I decided I was to afraid to even have it so I wrote her and told her I was scared of it and that I was going to keep in my garage where it couldn't get me. Her reply: She'd had the board out in her garage for the past ten years, she had used it once and it scared it so bad, she was too afraid to take it back in the house. We both had a good laugh.

I would never give an ouija board away. I have burned all mine. Many moons ago. I would never put myhand on another ouija board again as long as my life lasted. Things do follow people, it has nothing to do with releasing anything. How do you think they found you in the first place? They are NEVER GOOD. They are very evil, bad spirits that come through and TRICK people into using them Your Grandma Theresa will never talk to you through an Ouija Board!!! The evil things out there are always there. THey seek out people who "play" with ouija boards and mess with their minds. GET RID OF IT NOW. As far as throwing away tarot cards....I had a very powerful deck that I sold, because I promised God never to use them again. They were powerful and strong. I sold them to a willing buyer. I have no idea of his fate at this time. Many dark things are better left in the past.

Years ago... I had a Ouija Board. That thing scared me to death. But everytime I'd try to get rid of it... it would always find it's way back to me... I'd give it to a friend... because she wanted it... But somehow... it would always end up back at my house... Till finally one day... I just picked it up... and went threw it in a dumpster. And that was the end of it. No More Oujia Boards for me!!!!

Hello, many years ago i did experiments with OUIJA I found them to be built incorrectly, but besides that burning is truley the only way, i burned at least 5 ...after experimenting with them, and all those that were a part of the experiment were there, we did this with a prayer all saying at the end" WE SHALL AGREE ON EARTH THAT THESE OUIJA BOARDS ARE NOW CLOSED AND THAT NOTHING< SEEN< UNSEEN< KNOWN< UNKOWN< FELT<UNFELT<SMELLED<NOT SMELLED, can ever enter again through the ASHES of these devivces.etc

Ok Phonepkh, You keep telling us that the Ouija Board is made wrong-not tell us why-

I accidentally burned my very first board while trying to glow it above my torch lamp(not a swift move,I know.) But seriously, after that, the thing never worked again. Bought a new one, didnt work. Bought another new one, didnt work. So burning just might do the trick. My board didnt burn completely thru either, just the top layer, center. Guess if ya wanna get rid of it that bad, its worth a try.

Glow it! Glow it! Glow it! I love it. I wanna make mine glow too. I bet it glows all by itself when no one's watching up on the top shelf where I hid it in the closet. I have decided, by the way, to mail it to Maine rather than fly with it, and then mail it back again when I'm done.

oh, I forgot the Planchette needs to be A triangle not this heart shape it is wrong, also the Board must be overlade with Brass as the planechette also, why metal is a Short circuit for negative forces, but they can still attack, how, when the people who use the board forget to use it correctly, why so many rules....would you use your finger in the plug socket to see if there was power or would you use a meter and test it correctly 1st?

well river!!! i had a friend .that was into the ouija board and she played it all the time and it is real spirits that are very bad . and she was going to school one morning and she left it on the table and her mom saw it . and got real mad and told her to throw it away . and well she took it outside and burned it . and when everybody left to go somewhere's. and when so came back she went into the kitchen and on the table was the ouija board back again . so i don't know what she did with it . she never told me . well i know for a fact i'm a honest person i really am. but i know that if you play it and you don't say goodbye to ''well''
to the demons that they will haunt you trust me on it . well i know a girl that one of her friends brought a ouija board to her house and they and some people started playing it. and asking it ?'s and some was nice and then there was some that wasn't so nice.like one demon girl that this person ask a ? and that person said good bye!!! and the girl demon spell out no u ain't going to tell me bye!! i want let u so .. so about that time they had candles lite. and it was a summer night and what was wierd is that there was know wind outside at all. and then the candles blew out quick !!!!! welll if you have anymore ?'s juat asked ok

Thank-you, Phonepkl, So much detail, you must know what you are talking about-I have never owned a Ouji B. and only started to play once when I was 18yrs.old w/my stepmother, she asked one question, who will angela marry? and the board zoomed to the first letter "x", my stepmother suddenly said it was late and had to go out w/dad. I do not recall if she even said good-bye. hope that's not the reason for all the haunting I've had the last 33 1/2yrs.

well when ANY OF YOU USE OUIJA! ALWAYS SAY "GO TO THE CENTER OF THE BOARD AND>>>LEAVE!!!!, if it refuses...say a Prayer and then REPEAT THE REQUEST/DEMAND LEAVE!!!and then Both wash your hands in water...it can act as a Cleansing effect, but again OUIJA is a Crap shoot!!, Build a corrected device, and Try again, also, have a 3rd person ask the Questions, someone who is not touching the board, it is that 2....or 3 people power thing. anyway All take care these devices are NOT TOYS, as parker Brothers would have you beleve!!! what do they care? they make money on this thing!!! and Give No real instructions on its use!!
Ok Thanks again for the kind words, I feel i must imform people as I and 7 other spent many hours finding a correct way, and dealt with many strange scary things before we got a better device to tell us how we should Use it, There are Forces All round us ALL...so as For Those to Help, and if you really believe....they will come, trust me ....They come, but not without warnings!!!

my sis has 1 of those so called boards in her room she isn,t a witch or any of that stuff but when i look at it the hair on my skin raises up good thing she never used, it though its like opening pandoras box she still has it but i dare not to look at it

My older sister got one for her birthday years ago when she was a teenager. She used it a couple of times with her friends and she said some freaky stuff resulted from it. Anyway, our dad found out about the board and he took it outside and chopped it up with an axe and put it in the trash. To my knowledge, nothing else resulted from it. I guess you can dispose of the board that way.

I'm not sure how to dispose of the board, but I did want to say that I have thrown my board out twice when I moved and each time it has returned. I assumed that I was mistaken the first time, but the second time....come on!! My husband took it to a dumbster on the other side of the metro and so far it has not returned.

I did the bury in salts deal.

I had a board when I was about 15. I never got much out of it. Corse not many people wanted to use it with me either. But my father liked to use it to manipulate my female friends. He actually had the nerve to have it say that a spirt was going to posess my unborn frined baby unless she started dating him. Not that I don't belive Quija borads work but, what he was using it for was completly wrong. He tried alot of stuff like that to get hooked up with my friends so I doubt a spirt was really coming through.
I've thought about making one sometime soon, no place around me seems to sell any good wooden ones anyway.

I had a board 3 years ago. I was living with a friend of mine and we kept it in the closet. My friend is a really nice guy, he never gets mad and he is always nice to everyone. While we had this board in his closet he started getting very mean and he started yelling alot and cussing alot(he never cussed before). I went to another friend's house then deals in the supernatural and started explaining to him about what was going on. We quickly went back to my place and got the board and he proceeded to cut an X from one corner to the other and then he broke the board in half and the he threw it away. The board has never come back and my friend turned back into his sweet self again.

Bury it in holy ground, but 1st it does need to be cleanesed.

I personally cannot comprehend any toy made by Milton Bradley, Parker Brothers, or whatever company makes it, can communicate with the dead. It just isn't true. My friend had one long ago and it never worked. I bought one off of E-Bay and it never worked. I also flew from Iowa to Virginia with it when I moved. I keep it in my bedroom closet, with the door open and nothing has ever happened to me. I am a firm believer of ghosts and spirits. I had a very traumatic experience of a little tune being played by an invisible xylophone when I was child, way before I even knew what an Ouija board was. So, the spirit was not the cause of an Ouija Board. They have never worked for me or anyone I have ever known. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I really think that toy plays on overactive imaginations. I'm sorry, but that's all I really think it is.

I am sorry to say that these are very real and not to be taken lightly, I have experienced this myslef twice with others around..both times we cleansend and prayed and broke it in half and burned it....
