As you probably know, some of the finest Cannabis in the world is available at "coffee shops" in Amsterdam. You can go have the time of your life legally puffing away incredible strains and munching on danish. You'll feel like a kid in the ultimate candy shop. Just be careful travelling across borders with your stash. Neighboring Germany, for instance, likes to pull you over on your way from Holland and nab your nugs!

Yea, just go to the counter. Check the menu and order. If you have any questions about the strains and recommendations just ask. Most are pretty cool with the touristas.
Cannabis Bliss...Stay away from "The GrassHopper" in the city center area. There are some ok spots in the Red-light district as well. I would get a little further into the city and hit up a place there. You'll get a more Dutch experience. The center of town is very influenced by tourism. There's a cool center park place and off of that was this Jamaican Guy's place with the best ever. Make sure to try some hash. It's concentrated cannabis. You'll find it hard to locate a pipe to purchase. Best Coffee Shop was in Arnhem. Most place's have a House Bong you can borrow. Everywhere sells pre-rolled joints. You can only buy a few grams at a time from one coffee shop. They still sell Bsters or Pretendies, depending on your local. I've even see some shwag for sale. You pretty much get what you pay for. Like buy wine though, you can spend good money on an OK bottle and not so much on a Great bottle. Space cake and other ingestables have a different effect on the body. Can last for many hours. If you haven't had cannabis in a years, be very careful. The plant has vastly grown in strength from the Hippie Days. My best coffee shop experience was in Arnhem where I just hung out with the bartender and watched the locals come in and buy their medicine. Bought some juice and chilled. Most places don't sell alcohol as well. One does in Amsterdam. Pretty cool place but very busy. Have fun and don't worry "It's not laced with anything, It's just that good!" Remember, your doing business with pot-heads, 'it cool man.'
More technically, you buy one or two grams from 3 to 9 euros, depending on your dollar. Or buy a joint for a listed price. Or buy a piece of cake and go for a walk. See where you wind up in 4 hours!! If you need to ask, you should buy a joint, take 2 hits and pass it on.
I live in Amsterdam and ideamen240 is right in this, for the better coffeeshops take the tram to for example district "De Pijp" and you will find the better coffeshops of Amsterdam.
You can also visit a street called "Haarlemerdijk" this is west of the central central station (ten minute walk) and here are some quality coffeshops like the "Dampkring"
The ones in the centre all sell touristquality and touristquantity as we call it. It is ok but here is much better avialable.
