This town is home and so near to many fantastic museums. The Van Gogh Museum was my favorite. The Rijks Museum would be a close second. Never did the Ann Frank house.
Red light was fun. Didn't partake in 'Johning.' I found the racial segregation of the 'Girls' to be interesting. Everything is pretty close. I found the smaller cities of the Netherlands to be alot more enjoyable. As well as hokey fun. But these people are very smart and educated. You are a dumb American regardless of how you behave here. Their not superior like the French, but just that much smarter as a whole. I don't think they realize it too much.
Museums in Amsterdam are among the main tourist attractions. The Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum are the most popular choices, but there are many, many more. Amsterdam has over fifty museums, which attract millions of visitors every year. Alongside the wealth of magestic Golden Age paintings, you'll find exciting modern art, press, film, theatre and photography museums and some unique Dutch treats like the Heineken Experience, the Ajax Museum and the Houseboat museum.
For kids there is the impressive NEMO; a hands-on, science and technology museum housed in an unmissable, boat-shaped building. The Shipping Museum is also worth a visit with its replica of a Dutch trading ship, docked at the front. Museums such as the Tropical museum and Jewish museum also include children's section. The Museum card is the ideal solution for museums and arts addicted, for tourists wishing to stay in Amsterdam longer, or visiting museums also in other Dutch cities. Exept for these well known museums, there is a number of art galleries in Amsterdam.
The Van Gogh museum is definetely a must-see. I don't think I did visit any of the other museums, but I did see the Ann Frank house (is that considered a museum??) and I found that really interesting. More so because I did read her diary when I was in middle school, and I was very impacted by it. Another favorite memory of mine of my visit to Amsterdam was going to this American comedy show at night
