Has anyone heard of "porketta"? I lived in a small town (Chisholm) in northern Minnesota for the first 30 years of my life, and it seemed that this tasty seasoned pork roast was only made in that general part of northern Minnesota. My Brothers & I still travel back to Chisholm to visit Mother, but we always pick up a 6 month supply of porketta's at the local Jubilee market where they are made fresh. Seasoned lean pork butt rolled & netted...Excellent hot or cold! This is same town that was depicted in "Field of Dreams"...That's where Doc Graham had his practice..

You can find porketta at the Jubilee market in Ishpeming, Michigan. A quaint mining town, Ishpeming is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It was one of the locations for the movie classic "Anatomy of a Murder." Directed by Otto Preminger and starring Jimmy Stewart. John Voelker, an Ishpeming native and Justice to the Supreme Court of Michigan, wrote the novel on which the movie was based. He was the defense attorney in this true murder case. Writing under the pen name of Robert Traver, Mr. Voelker has also written many books on fishing in the Upper Peninsula.
