On vacation in March of this year I found a wonderful small town pizzaria with tons of history and a wonderful homestyle atmoshpere.
The pizza was out of this world!! the service was wonderful!! and the atmosphere.. well.. historical to say the least.
Beau Jo's pizza is located in Idaho Springs, CO and the building itself I believe was an old gold mine building.
If ever doing a special series on Pizza.. I would suggest a visit to the original Beau Jo's Pizza in Idaho Springs, CO.
If on vacation in the Denver area, take the short drive west for a slice of heaven..
*note to readers*
Beau Jo's doesnt sell pizza by small / med / lg you order it by the pound.. so be sure to bring an appetite and some friends!!!

Having grown up in Denver, I have had pizza @ Beau Jo's since I started skiing in the 60's. It was great then, and still is now.
If you ever have the chance to stop in, don't miss it.

I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE IN 25 YEARS. WE TRAVELED FROM MISSISSIPPI IN CHUCRCH BUSSES AND STAYED IN IDAHO SPRINGS BEFORE MAKING THE TRIP UP THE MOUNTAIN TO WINTER PARK. THE PIZZA WAS THE BEST EVER THEN AND ITS GOOD TO HEAR THEY ARE STILL DOING IT THE RIGHT WAY. MISS THE THICK CRUST SERVED WITH HONEY. DO THEY STILL DO THAT?
