We will be in Austin over the Christmas holiday. We will be staying downtown. We will be traveling with our adult 21& 25 single children. Anywhere to go for the night life would be appreciated

If you will be in Austin over the holidays, you cannot miss the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar. It runs every night through Christmas Eve. Dozens of artisians gather to sell their beautiful work at the Music Hall and local musicians play every evening. It is downtown and should be within walking distance to where you are staying.
One of my favorite places to eat in the warehouse district is a tapas restaurant called malagas. Lovely tapas and very good selection of wine.
Austin is usually very nice in december and I hope you enjoy our beautiful city!

Downtown Austin is the perfect place to stay for Austin nightlife. One thing you should know is that the night life will not be what it normally is around Christmas due to the absence of 50,000+ UT students. That being said, you will be able to find quite a lot going on anywhere in the 3rd to 6th street areas. This area basically contains bar aftet bar and is the main nightlife area in Austin. 3rd to 5th streets tend to be a slightly older crowd (25+) while 6th street typically brings in the younger crowd. There will be live bands playing in various places up and down all of the streets. I would recommend the following specific places:
Speakeasy 3rd(great rooftop deck with views of Austin) Lucky Lounge 5th, (always gets busy later), Fado 4th (Irish Style Pub), Library (dance club on 6th), and Molakav Lounge (West 6th) beautiful people. I will also add in two place not in this 6th street area Continental Club-Congress Ave (Old Austin place with good bands) and the Broken Spoke-South Lamar (Best Two Stepping in Austin). I would recommend taking a trip at night to 38 1/2 street to see the extravaganza of lights it is truely something to behold!!
