This fall we are planning on traveling to Austin with our pooch. Can anyone tell me if there are any good pet friendly resturants and/or activities that we can experience with our dog.
Since you're coming in fall, the weather should be nice for outdoor activities. Parks and outdoor festivals are popular places for dog-owners (pick up a copy of The Chronicle or check online to see what events are happening during your trip).
http://www.dogplaces.com/ has great lists of places you can take your dog, including restaurants. I used to work at Amy's Ice Cream, and I know that in the Arboretum location, they allow dogs inside only if they're being carried or are off the floor. They also have homemade dog treats available for free so that both owner and pet can have a treat.
Almost all of the restaurants in the Austin area that have outdoor seating will allow you to bring your pooch. There was a big to do about this a few years ago, and the city voted to allow it as long as the restaraunt owners didn't care. B/c the city is so layed back, no one cares.

The Irons is a boutique hotel with all the comforts of home located in the South Congress entertainment district (SoCo 78704). We are THE most pet friendly hotel in town.
