The Dare To Be Great from the Parlor in Jackson Mi is a formidable opponent for anyone. While the "Kitchen Sink challenge" in San Fran featured a pitiful 8 softball sized scoops, the DTBG has 21, as well as boasting triple the toppings. Half way through eating it your whole body starts shivering and only gets worse as you press on. When you get to the bowl the wait staff gives you hot water to aid in the quest, but it does little to quell the sense that your body might never again be able to process lactose. If Adam struggled with the Kitchen Sink, it's hard to see him completing this one. I believe three to five people in the last ten years have actually finished in under the hour time limit. It would be a great episode.

There is a place in a little tiny town called Caro, MI that is called Murdogs. They have a challenge called the Top Dog Challenge that is a pound and a half burger and a double order of fries and if you can eat it all you get a t-shirt and your picture on the wall. It would be awesome if you would come to a place like this and do a challenge. There is also a Big Juan burrito in Mt. Pleasant, MI at La Senorita.

Lazybones Smokehouse in Roseville has a "HOG DOG" on its menu. It has homemade cajun sausage, pulled pork, cheddar, onions, jalepeno, smothered in brisket chili served with Ranch Fries. Finish in ten minutes and it's free. Nobody has gotten it for free! www.lazybonessmokehouse.net

Two earlier posts mention two great spots in. They are Tony's in Birch Run and T-Dub's in Frankenmuth.
Tony's has huge portions of food. If you order a side of bacon, you get a pound. If you order a burger combo expect 3 plates. T-Dub's has a rather large breakfast. Oh yeah... NOBODY has ever finished it. Ever The best news of all. They're only about a 15 or 20 minute drive from each other, so it would make for a good episode combination. |

There is an ice cream parlor in Adrian MI called The Spotted Cow. Their challenge is to finish one scoop of each of the 19 flavors of hand dipped ice cream, with three toppings, whipped cream and nuts. I don't know if there is a time limit, or how many have attempted to do it, however there have been six people who have won this challenge, and have had their pictures posted on wall to the left as you enter the parlor. They do have amazing ice cream.

Lunker's Angler's Inn in Edwardsburg.
http://www.lunkers.com/anglersi.htm In addition to fresh fish, they feature buffalo, elk, alligator, frog legs and ostrich. But they now have the LUNKOSAURUS. If you can eat the entire 4-pound, or 64-ounce top sirloin steak in an hour, you get the steak for free ($49.99), your name on a plaque, and a certificate to take home. |

Ok, The show goes down like this right? a couple local hot spots for adam to talk about and pregame at. then a big challenge. in Mt pleasant theres a couple of options. For pre game spots theres Doozies (in the summer only) it a family owned ice cream parlor thats a town fixture. theres the pixe which is a coney/burger 50's drive in joint. they have a challenge but its really easy. prolly not up to Man V Food standards. but it could work for a pregame stop. another pregame spot could be La Senoritas. its a mexican place thats been in town for a long time. my personal favorite place in town is Lil Chef its a 24 hour restraunt thats famous for its "southern skillet". Its even mentioned in a rap song about Central Mich University.
Anyways The Challenge ... Its called the "Big Kahuna" its at bar in town called Cheers. its a burger and fries platter. the burger is altogether like 3-4 an a half lbs. its got 1/2 lb of bacon, a fried egg, delicious meat and cheese (another 1/2 lb, cheese alone) and fries. Its usually about a 5lb platter. not too bad you might say???? the challenge is the 1/2 hour time limit. it kills me and my friends every time. theres no tshirt or wall of fame or anything but the deal is if you eat it w/in the time period your meal is free. i think it would be a great show, and if you need a guide/ more info email me at caplightfoot@hotmail.com. hope to hear from you adam. -shane |

You have to go to Flint. To Angelo's Coney Island. Detroit coneys are chili dogs. The sauce from Flint is totally different. Grew up there and never knew that Detroit and Flint had different coneys. Anyone that grew up in the Flint area always heads for Angelo's the minute they get back in town.

Tony's Restaurant of Birch Run wanted for "Man vs Food"
Tony's I-75 Restaurant in Birch Run sells a sandwich as big as your head loaded with 20 strips of bacon -- nearly 1 pound of artery-clogging, salt-cured meat. Its banana split includes a half-gallon of ice cream. The behemoth BLT attracted the attention of the nation via an appearance on the Travel Channel's "Sandwich Paradise" last November. Now, the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" wants to highlight the restaurant, 8781 Main. Melanie Sochan | The Saginaw NewsBrian Becker, 35, of Saginaw, a cook at Tony's Restaurant, 8781 Main Street in Birch Run adds a pound of cooked bacon to a turkey club sandwich at the restaurant.Fritzler said producers contacted him about three months ago and indicated they wanted to tape this summer. On the day of filming, posted notices will warn patrons not to enter if they don't want to appear on TV. The 25,000-circulation Canadian "Scope RV Camping Magazine" also featured Tony's, Frankenmuth's Bavarian Inn Restaurant and Zehnder's Splash Village Hotel and Water Park, Old City Hall Restaurant in Bay City and the Halo Burger in the Flint area. Melanie Sochan | The Saginaw NewsThe bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich at Tony's Restaurant, 8781 Main Street in Birch Run contains one pound of cooked bacon."Sandwich Paradise" producers and crew, four people in all, flew in from California in September to tape the Travel Channel show at Tony's. They spent eight hours interviewing the owners, employees and customers, Fritzler said. Business picked up after the broadcasts, including reruns earlier this month, he said. No reruns are scheduled now, according to tvguide.com. "I'd say two out of 10 customers comment on seeing the show," Fritzler said. Gus Burns is a staff writer for The Saginaw News.
