Please post your food challenge suggestions here for this state. If you have photos and video of the location, please upload them on our What's Your Trip site.

Here are some past posts about locations in this state:

La Mina, Bakersfield

If someone can eat three in under 1 hour that person receives $50. My friend is the only person in the history of the restaurant to finish two burritos. Here is a video clip of him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UngkawZUksw-

Sonora Cantina, Big Bear Lake

AT the Sonora Cantina in Big Bear Lake, California there s a challenge that I doubt Adam can conquer. Not for the faint of heart. Probably the biggest burrito in the world Ö and if you can finish it in 45 minutes or less you become an instant celebrity and *win a T-shirt proclaiming your victory over "Big Juan". The "Big Juan" contains 4 meats, cheese, beans, lettuce, rice, sliced olives, green onions & tomatoes. Bon Appetite, Gringo!!

Pinedell Resort, Clearlake
Originally posted by: cornnut02
This little known deli and pizzeria is located right on the lake. Their pizza and sandwiches are incredible! The owners are such warm and inviting people who bought an old 1920's resort and personally remodeled it back to its original splendor. Everything is homemade and they only use fresh ingredients. Their large combo pizza is massively piled with toppings four inches high and baked in a stone oven. Trust me - make the drive out Lakeshore Drive (or arrive by boat and dock on their pier) and enjoy this awesome food while sitting outside and enjoying the scenery. I eat there twice a week!

Heroes, Fullerton

can you eat six of them, a half-pound of bacon, and a bowl of fruit.... if you think you can you should check out the restaurant "Heroes" in Fullerton, California

Here's the challenge:
49'rs Tavern
Triple By-pass Challenge
Eat three (3) Triple By-pass burgers in the record time* and we will pay you $200.00
This record time was established in 1999 by Sean Alvarado.
* 5 Minutes and 16 Seconds

El Tepeyak, Los Angeles

Contains rice beans, guacamole, pork that is cooked in this tomatoes and onions mixture I am not sure the actual term is but this pork mixture is in the burrito and on top with cheese and it sooo good.
Adam must try this if he comes to LA

El Nopal, Los Angeles

Orochon, Los Angeles

Mi Pueblo Taqueria, Novato

Mi Pueblo, Novato

Adam Richman, I dare you to stomach this beast!!! If you do, you get your picture on the wall and will be remember forever!!!

Jim Denny's Ultimate breakfast challenge, Sacramento
Originally posted by: randy22
This place, in Sacramento, CA,(916-443-9655) has been an institution for downtown breakfast and burger enthusiasts since 1934. You have to try their breakfast, especially their HUGE pancakes. You better bring your appetite if you’re going to take these on. They used to have an ultimate breakfast challenge, where contestants would try to eat a gigantic breakfast in as little time as they could. Last I checked, a local celebrity, by the name of Mark S. Allen, held the record. I am sure they would revive the old tradition if you came to town. Are you up for the challenge?

I would if you take a trip to San Francisco and eat at the Swans Oyster Depot. It's been around for 100 years and owned by one family. It's a small place with a bar and stools and you can watch them prepare your seafood right there. All product comes in fresh daily, straight from the coast and they have some kick *** clam chowder (and I hate clams!) and a great atmosphere.

Iguanas Taqueria, San Jose

Next time you're in California, you might want to visit downtown San Jose's Iguanas taqueria - home of the five-pound Burritozilla. Their motto? "Burritos as big as your head." Not only are they big but they are absolutely delicious. The Burritozilla is (I think) 14" of flour tortilla stuffed with Mexican rice, your choice of beans, your choice of meat, fresh salsa and guac, cheese and sour cream. Do not forget your side of their signature orange sauce - super hot with a rich, smoky flavor!

Adam, please read this!

Hi. I'm a 13 year old kid and I have lived in San Diego, California for all my life (until I moved) me and my family are casual Man V. Food fans. Please take on the Broken Yolk Cafe challenge! It's a 12 egg omelette (just like Seattle) with chili, onions, and two big biscuits. I have wondered about the challenge for a long time, until one day, I felt optimistic and got some friends and took on the challenge! Everyone cheered until my stomach exploded. I failed miserably but I want you to avenge me, and avenge yourself! Redeem yourself after the Seattle battle and become one of the few 10-20 to defeat the deadly 12 egg omelette. The omelette has won the battle, but you can win the war!
Thanks Adam and the Man V. Food crew! Good luck!

Hey! I live in Davis, CA and there's a restaurant here called Guadalajara that has a dish called the Super Giant Burrito. It's big enough for 3 people and it's extremely hard to finish in one sitting. It's basically packed with beans, guad salsa, cheese, your choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, sour cream, and rice. The whole burrito is about a foot long and it's delicious. You should try!

So I'm reading here about the Broken Yolk in PB, which is good, but you've already done the omelet challenge. The biggest challenge here in San Diego is who has the better burger, Hodad's, or Rocky's Pub. Hodad's has amazing shakes and their burgers are fabulous! However, Rocky's only has 5 things on their menu, and for good reason, they wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand if they added anything else. Their menu is 1/3 lb Hamburger, 1/3 lb cheeseburger with, 1/2 lb hamburger, 1/2 chesseburger and basket of fries. They also have beer and soda, and that's it. Both places are small hole in the wall type places, but are always standing room only. I think Rocky's is the better burger, but it is the best burger I've ever had in the 32 years I've been alive. A definite must have for any human with tastebuds.

Farrells Ice Cream Parlour and Restaurnant.

These restaurants used to be all over the US, but after a few corporate buyouts all but a few have closed over the years. Only a few survive, but none to the original splendor of the concept many americans have experienced. A NEW location is being built in Mission Viejo, California. (orange county, just south of los angeles). They are famous for THE ZOO. A Huge Ice Cream delight that is typically for a birthday bash to feed up to 10 people, but I believe Adam can handle it on his own!

I wholeheartedly recommend Val's Burgers in Hayward. It's a good old fashioned diner. They may not have the biggest burgers but they sure are tasty and they come in Papa, Mama, and Baby sizes. The shakes are great too!

I agree with my fellow San Diegans here. It would be awesome to see you take on the challenge at the Broken Yolk Cafe in Pacific Beach (PB as the locals call it). Perhaps it could be possible redemption for the breakfast challenge in Seattle. Smile

Other hot spots you may want to check out (non-challenge): Burger Lounge www.burgerlounge.com - a certified "green" restaurant where you can eat healthy and still leave full, and Extraordinary Desserts www.extraordinarydesserts.com - the BEST desserts in town in taste and appearance with an attractive atmosphere to match. My favorite is a good slice of the Passion Fruit Ricotta Torte!

I was watching the show Extreme Pig Outs, and there was a challenge that I really want Adam to do. You think you have eaten pancakes, but you have not idea. The challenge is to eat 3 or four colossal pancakes under two hours. You can find videos and pics on this

SEIAD VALLEY CAFE, CA

The other challenge is the biggest burgers in the world. You have not eaten a burger until you have eaten here. The challenge also to eat a burger that is the size of your abdomen. I think the prize is a shirt, a picture, and its free.

Adam-
You trip to Henry's Hi-Life brought back memories of my growing up in San Jose, CA and my father taking me there as a young girl and then going there later in life with my then future husband. The food is indeed great. There is a fantastic place with all the bar-b-que foods you could ever want, the memorabilia on the walls is fantastic, and it's always hopping. The staff is wonderful, friendly and the bar is always full. The food is indeed fantastic. Visit the little city of Waterloo, CA. and you will not be disappointed
