Please post your food challenge suggestions here for this state. If you have photos and video of the location, please upload them on our What's Your Trip site.
Here are some past posts about locations in this state: Fat Sandwich Company, Champaign Originally posted by: duanelinton A $25 sandwich the size of a football. Challenge is to eat it in 15 minutes and it's free. To my knowledge no one has succeeded yet. Go to http://fatsandwichcompany.com/Champaign/index.html and click on "Big Fat Ugly". Chi-Town Pizza, Chicago Originally posted by: chicagobleacherbums.com Chi-Town pizza on Division St. in Chicago. One piece of pizza...the Gringo Killer. Call in sick to work for the next few days. I have never seen anyone eat an entire piece. Bacci Pizzeria's 30" Jumbo sausage pizza, Chicago Originally posted by: davess I would be honored to have Adam come to my restaurant and try the "Jumbo Challenge". It’s a 30" sausage pizza, New York style. The crust is not as thin as New York but a little thicker. I have my doubts that he can chow down a "Jumbo" in 45 minutes. This gives him a little more than a minute an inch. If he does, the pizza and a t-shirt to go along with it are free. I am located at 1332 W 75th Street Downers Grove, IL. We have been established in Chicago area for over 10 years and are famous for our "Jumbo" slice and free pop special. For more information on our pizza and other locations try www.baccipizza.com You can either reach me at the store number (630) 515-3500 or through email at davess02@yahoo.com. I look forward to seeing Adam attempt our challenge. Dr. Jazz Soda Fountain, Lebanon Originally posted by: mctaverne The Ice Cream Overdose is a 12-scoop ice cream sundae with hot fudge, caramel, and nuts. If you eat it in 30 minutes, it's free. The Ironman, McHenry Originally posted by: cheri5025 12 egg omelet w/mushroom, onion, amer cheese, smothered with chili and more cheese. 1/2 of a 15" pizza pan and the other 1/2 piled with home fries and 2 biscuits. 1-hour time limit. McHenry, IL Bartolini's Restaurant, Midlothian Originally posted by: littlebarto Bartolini's 10 lb. Meatball Sandwich is the real deal along with the rest of the menu and people! My parents and uncle own Bartolini's Restaurant in Midlothian, IL. (Or Midlo) It's also called Barto's to most of us! We have been open since March 17th, 1995. We have the best of everything, especially our famous Meatballs. We host a Meatball Eating Championship every year. Our newest thing is the 10 lb. Meatball Sandwich. It has 1 lb. of Turano bread, 1.5 lbs. of our delicious red gravy, 1.5 lb. of hot or sweet peppers, 40-2oz. of the Meatballs, oh and don't forget the 1 lb. of mozzarella cheese! The cost is $39.95. You have 3 hours to eat it! Yeah, that's it! If you do finish the HUGE sandwich in the 3 hours, you get a free Bartolini's T-shirt and your money back. The restaurant is a great place to stop by after a game or before a business meeting. We are a casual place where everyone knows everyone, and if you're new... by the end of the night you are one of us! Come on over to Midlo and eat the sandwich!!!!!! To see more Bartolini's and meatballs go to www.bartolinis.com "R" Place, Morris Originally posted by: doublet62 At Rt 47 & I 80 Located inside a BP gas station is a fantastic truck stop called "R" Place. Boasting the 5-pound ETHEL burger with a bun baked on site. this mammoth, juicy creation is not to be taken lightly. Only a few have conquered it within the 1 hr time limit. Everything on the menu is OVERSIZE and worth trying. How about a HUBCAP-porkchop sandwich!. C’mon Adam next time you're in Chicago go 40 miles west to Morris and try "R" Place! When my friend was served the Ethel burger, he got the waitress to laugh by saying. looks kinda skimpy don’t ya think??!! He didn’t make it! Judy's, Morton Originally posted by: mysticmoonbeam Judy's in Morton IL is home to the largest pancake I have ever seen. I would love to see this restaurant in an upcoming episode. I do not think there is a challenge, but these Pancakes are HUGE. Emack and Bolio's, Normal Originally posted by: toddschollmann My mother owns an Emack and Bolio's ice cream shop in Normal IL. It is a Rock n Roll themed ice cream joint with flavors created by actual rock stars. The Emack Attack is a GIANT bowl of like 25 scoops and EVERY topping imaginable. If two people can finish it within an hour it’s free and you get on the Emack Attack Wall of Fame. Email me if you need information on the store it would be awesome to see Man vs. Food there! Schiappa's, O'Fallon Originally posted by: skiapa Adam needs to come to Schiappa's in O'Fallon, Illinois about 20 minutes from St. Louis to attempt the 36 inch Pizza Challenge with two partners. Schiappa's also has a 40-inch pizza you have to see to believe. Best part of the whole thing is the pizza is the best tasting contest pizza around. Schiappa's has a Wall Of Fame and the check out our website www.schiappas.com Charlie Parker's Diner, Springfield Originally posted by: tim the bottomless pit The other challenge in Springfield is the pancakes from Charlie Parker's diner. the challenge is to eat a stack of four giant pancakes (roughly 18 ounces each and 72 ounces total) all by themselves, then those pancakes are free. So EAT IT & BEAT IT (as the menu states). One that isn't so tough in size but in might is Joe Rogers chili there specialty is the "J.R. Special" each person who conquers this bowl of fire is given a spot on the wall for there name and each time they do it again they get a star next to their name. If anyone wants to become a champion of food eating check out these local hot spots and do your thing. GOOD LUCK The Pizza Machine, Springfield Originally posted by: jersey destroyer How about coming to Springfield IL and try the Pizza Machine's 60" pizza that is delivered to your table by a crane. |

Nothing matches chicago Pizza, and our favorite place for pizza is JB Albertos in Rogers Park! Tony makes thin, stuffed, plain, meat lovers, you nmae it. It's know as the home of the Giant which is huge and can feed a 16 and still have some leftover for the mornig after party! It's been a staple in the area for years serving the community which includes the Loyala Univ. Campus. Adam wuold love to attempt to tackle the Giant as he's treated to one of Chicago's 7 wonders. My 8 year old son loves the show, he gets the "hungries" during each episode. Bon Apetite!

Besides there AMAZING CHILI they have The Beast. This thing is insane. It is is basically an ice cream sundae on steroids. The glass it comes in looks like a flower vase. Apparently, a few people have tried it but no one has been able to finish it.

Southern Illinois seems to be left out too often. There are people that live south of Chicago. We have a nice spot for a 3 am, "after a good night out" breakfast in Clinton County, IL. It is about an hour south-east of St. Louis. The Cozy Corner is in a small town named Breese. Everything about it screams small town from the people that work there to the meals you get. There is a pretty regular late night crowd. GREAT PLACE!

I have a place for you in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. Its a place called Wingtown Grill. www.wingtowngrill.com
They have great wings and amazing burgers. They also have an 4 plus pound burger challange called The Quadruple Bypass Challange. Its almost 2 pounds of Beef, half a pound of Bacon, a third of a pound of cheese plus Fries, Onion Rings and trimmings. Eat it in 30 minutes and not only do you get it free, but your picture goes on the wall of fame and you get an "I Survived the Quadruple Bypass" T-shirt. |

Dude the Cozy Corner in Breese is a dive with horrible food. I've eaten there (I'm from Highland), and gotten violently ill, and no I wasn't drunk like all the rednecks from Clinton County are. So go have a Ski and work on your tractor. |

Avanti's Italian Restaurant, Normal Il. http://www.avantisnormal.com
Every Tuesday is the Spaghetti Feast. All the spaghetti you can eat for $5.25. Includes salad and bread. According to the staff the record is 13 plates of spaghetti. I can't personally verify the record. One of the waiters told me the record was 13 plates if I was interested.I can say 1 plate was plenty for me. |

As a displaced Chicagoan, I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend Superdawg on the North Side (6363 North Milwaukee). They don't have a challenge that I know if, but really good street food: http://www.superdawg.com/
Also, if back in Chicago you have to go to a Leona's in Lakeview, or Wicker Park... unsurpassed thin crust pizza - you'll love it! |

Hugo's Frog Bar and Fish House (http://www.hugosfrogbar.com/) in Chicago, IL, has a slice of their speciality cake for offer that is absolutely impossible for one man to finish. It's called "The Meaning of Life Cake" and it's about a foot tall and about 15" in diameter - and they give you 1/4 of that for dessert. It's made fresh and is very delicious, but even with four of us sharing it was impossible to finish. We didn't even get close. I asked the waitress and she said no one has ever finished, to her recollection, and she was pretty sure that even if you came with an empty stomach you couldn't top it off. Not to mention that the ingredients are heavy and rich - even one bite is filing! So I challenge Adam to go out to Chicago and discover the meaning of life!
