John's deli at 2033 Stillwell ave is the best local deli in NYC with great food (roast beef especially). If NYC is the mecca of food, John's deli is the mecca of delis.

This is one place you definetly need to check out. Absolutely the best roast beef you can find and once his famous secret gravy goes on its just out of this world. People young and old from all parts of brooklyn religously make there way there for a taste. Aside from the roast beef the rest of the food ranks just as high. Definetly one you need to go and taste for you self!!

I originally grew up on Long Island, NY and would love to see you go to some of the resturants out there. I owned a place with my daughters father and they have shops not only in NY but also in Florida (where I am now). If you could look up Jerry (hates to be called by his Sicilian name of Girolamo/Mimmo, but do it anyway!) at Sal's Pizza in Sayville, NY (this is my home town and I miss it). His entire family is originally from Carini, Italy.

It's a MUST that you visit John's Deli in Brooklyn, NY...2033 Stillwell Avenue...718-372-7481...www.johnsdeli.com. They really fill up their heroes. For years, I have been devouring their eggplant parm heroes. Their roast beef & mozz with that amazing gravy is like no other!!! I used to live a lot closer, now being on the other side of Brooklyn, I make the trek to get their food. It's so worth it! And I personally know of people who don't even live in NY, but when they visit here, they make a special trip to Brooklyn just for John's Deli! The BEST!!! "Subwayyyyyyyyy!" <----And you'll only find out what that means once you visit this true gem!!!!

Horsefeathers in Tarrytown, NY is an absolute must. They've got a wide selection of bar food, but all of it is impeccable. THe menu is extensive as is the selection of beers. The atmosphere is lovely, with the interior having been designed to look like a tavern of days long past. Aside from the fantastic food, the location couldn't be better, because it's located in the heart of the historic Hudson Valley and it's only about 30 minutes from NYC.

They haven't got a website that I know of, but the url above should be helpful. The only negative reviews I've heard is that people think it's overpriced and they aren't fans of the fact that the place caters to families.

By the way, get the John Paulding sandwich. It's turkey, sharp cheddar, cranberry mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion on a wedge. Phenomenal.

Hey Adam,
My buddy brought in a sub to work that was like no other. it was from Calabresella's on Buffalo Rd in Gates. It is called the Dominator after its owner, Dominic. This thing is not only big but the best tasting sub I ever had. The locals do not advertise and keep it to themselves. I guarantee its the best you've ever had. the joint is a Italian-greek deli that is full of great stuff. You will not be disappointed.-Johnny from Gates

Definitely come get a Garbage Plate!! Rochester should be acknowledged for its amazing pile up of every delicious unhealthy food item possible-on one plate!! I watch the show all the time and have seen a bunch of episodes with sandwiches and horseshoes that might seem similar, but the garbage plate is completely original!! Come visit!

I think that Adam should go to the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY. After all, that is the home and originator of the Buffalo Wing. I also recommend trying the garbage plate at Nick Tahoe's in Rochester. The garbage plate is a road trip staple to many a college student. Upstate NY has hundreds of awesome places to eat, each offering unique foods that originated in those areas. I just think that it is a crime that none of these places have been visited by man vs. food.
