Harold's Deli in Edison ... a must challenge! Adam will need more than his head to measure the size of these sandwiches and then a single piece of cake! A Hot Pastrami here is the best and size-wise makes the Dagwood look like childs play and lets not forget the pickle bar!! The cake ... too funny to describe but 1 slice will serve 4-6 easily!

There's a place in Point Pleasant, NJ called Surf Taco that serves a 4.6 pound burrito containing cheese, guacomole, sour cream, salsa, beans, meat, and rice all in 2 X-tra large tortillas. To win, you need to eat the burrito in under 15 minutes and then you get your picture on the Wall of Fame.

The Grease Trucks on the campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick are a must. Come during a home football game and get the whole experience. Eat 5 "fat sandwiches" in 45 minutes and you get to name your own sandwich. Rutgers NEEDS the MvF fat sandwich!

The Chicken or the Egg in Beach Haven, NJ, known to locals as "The Cheg."
Take on the ludicrous wings (if you dare). I would recommend dividing the New Jersey episode into North Jersey and South Jersey. The two regions are almost polar opposites. Or even better yet, do a Jersey Shore edition in the future. It could feature the Cheg, Surf Taco, Jersey Mike's (from Point Pleasant), Caffrey's in Forked River, the many boardwalks (AC, Ocean City, Seaside), the famous Forked River German Butcher (in Forked River), salt water taffy, Raymundo's, and the list goes on... --- Another location is Hot Dog Johnny's in Buttzville (Northwest Jersey, not far from PA). They have great dogs and are a legendary pitstop on the road to and from Pennsylvania. |

I would definitely recommend that Adam do a Rutgers crawl..the grease trucks specifically.
I also recommend Harold's Deli in Edison...insanely large portions. Skylark Diner, also in Edison, has an awesome menu and cool atmosphere (www.skylarkdiner.com). I'm gonna also have to rep my current town, Rahway. Visit the Galaxy Diner (www.thegalaxydiner.com)...never had a bad meal there. As well as the Waiting Room (thewaitingroom.us)...a neighborhood restaurant/bar. |

Check out Hoagie Haven in Princeton. They have a hoagie called the Phat Lady. Its a large cheese steak with mozzarella sticks, french fries, ketchup and hot sauce inside it. There are a multitude of other ridiculously large and delicious sandwiches.

Adam definitly needs to check out Charlies Pool Room in Alpha NJ. It is guarnteed to be like no other place he has ever been before but they serve only one thing on the menu, Hot Dogs, and they are the best in the area. They have been written up on several local food critic write ups. A good review to get an idea can be found at: http://www.seriouseats.com/200...m-new-jersey-nj.html

I am not sure if Adam has filmed in the NJ locations yet (anyone know?) but if not, a MUST visit is the Millburn Deli, located in my hometown of Millburn/Short Hills, NJ. This deli has the most insanely delicious sandwiches! Everyone I know who tastes them thinks they are to die for . The go-to winners are the turkey (or roast beef) joe (3 huge pieces of rye stuffed with turkey, cole slaw, russian dressing and swiss cheese) or the "Gobbler" which is basically Thanksgiving dinner between rye bread. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry, mayo, etc...it is UNREAL! All of the ingredients are fresh and of amazing quality, plus the staff is crazy and outspoken, ordering a "Gobbler" elicits high fives, turkey noises and a ringing bell.
I have had business associates from California come here and ask me to overnight ship the sandwiches to them after they leave, they are that good! It's really the best deli in NJ and shouldn't be missed! Here's the website www.millburndeli.com Thanks! Jennifer |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick Campus)
The show wouldn't have to go anywhere else, there's so much original creations right along two streets that you would need more than 1 episode to cover. Grease Trucks: The Rutgers grease trucks started out in the early 1980's and are now under contract with the University for space and electricity. They serve up the famous "Fat Sandwiches". The standard: "Fat Cat" gives you a hoggie sub, with cheeseburger, french fries, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup and mayo. The trucks are so popular now that they even have ATM machines in the truck! The trucks are a default destination for food after a night of drinking or sporting events. The "Fat Darrel" sandwich was voted top sandwich in the country by Maxim Magazine in 2004, and Sports Illustrated in 2005 voted the grease trucks as the #1 post game activity in the country. The grease trucks definitely have a challenge to offer up, create your own sandwich and eat 3 or 5 (don't remember what the requirement is anymore) in one sitting and you get to name that sandwich and have it on the board forever. Cluck-U-Wings: The best wings ever! They have their sauce franchised all over New Jersey. What makes this place extra special, is not only the best tasting wings, but the names behind the sauce. For example: Atomic, Nuclear, Thermo Nuclear, 911, Nuclear Fission (the latter two requires signing of a liability waiver). They actually have different eating challenges posted right outside. Stuff Yer Face: The best stromboli's in the country, and if you're from RU, then its just a "boli". In my opinion they have one of the best beer collections in New Brunswick for a bar/restaurant. Order off the menu, or create your own boli creation; either way they're awesome. The list goes on, but I highlighted the top 3 places to go to that are truly unique to Rutgers and each one distinctly defines Rutgers history. Please Adam....take Man vs. Food to Rutgers, New Brunswick! |
