The show should visit the grease trucks in New Brunswick. They are a collection of trucks serving food on college ave on the rutgers campus. If you can eat 5 fast cats which are 2 hamburges and an order of french fries all on a hoagie roll you get a sanndwich named after you.

I highly recommend checking out Nelly's Grill and Pizzeria in West Long Branch, NJ. It's near Monmouth University, so the college students love it (I am an alumna), but so do all the locals (I also grew up in the area). We now live in Colorado, but my husband still longs for it once in a while.
Their "fat sandwiches" are the specific items I would recommend: http://www.nellyspizza.com/fatsa.html The Fat Darrell is the fave among people I know. It includes chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, fries, marinara sauce, and mozzarella. |

In New Gretna, NJ Exit 50 off the Garden State Parkway.
A little place called Allen's clam bar, wood floors, paper plates, oyster crackers with horseradish, byob and everything fried under the sun. Best bet is the fried softshelled crabs. |

Hungry Piney has some of the biggest, heaviest cheesesteaks I have ever seen in my life. My husband, a cheesesteak fanatic, has been working his way to finish a large cheesesteak. if ever you're in/near NJ and are up to the challenge, Hungry Piney's is the place. Just let me know when so we can be there when you do! I'll be sure to get a cheesesteak for my husband to "challenge" you to completion!
(ps: you're awesome! lol) |

There is a place in New Brunswick NJ called R U Hungry that serves the Fat Darryl. They have a challenge there that allows you to make your own Fat sandwich if you are able to eat 5 of their existing Fat sandwiches in 45 mins. I think this would be an awesome challenge for Adam.

The Tsunami at Surf Taco in Point Pleasant, NJ was taken down for the first time (this year) in 14 minutes on January 19, 2009. The burrito is served wet with guac, sour cream, salsa, and cheese, and weighs 4.6 pounds. It has been defeated in the past as well; go look at the pictures from previous winners on the walls of the restaurant.

These all sound great, But if you are looking for a challenge in the most unusual of places then I have one for you. It is a Burger Challenge at the TRENTON THUNDER...yes that's right, the Baseball team that plays in Waterfront park in. The Chef there has created a challenge that 62 have tried and only 2 have finished. It is $15.00 and you have 30 Min to eat it...if you finish it it is free and you are invited back to another game where all of the winners will compete against eachother. Very unique in a stadium...but a hard challenge to finish. go to the www.trentonthunder.com to find out more. It was exclusive to just the luxury suites but when they have dollar draft nights you can sign up to do it on field level.

If you're looking for a challenge. Try PJ's Deli & Doghouse in lake Mohawk, Sparta, NJ. The have the Hemi Burger which is 2lbs of beef, 8 slices of cheese, 8 slices of bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion. Paired with a basket of gravy or cheese fries, a side salad of your choice and a large fountain drink.
PJ's has only been around for a couple of year's, but no one has been able to finish it! Oh, did I forget to mention you only have 30 minutes to eat it all?! Plus lake Mohawk is a great community with lots going on all times of the year, especially memorial Day and fourth of July. make it a full weekend trip! |

Greese Trucks in New Brunswick at Rutgers University. The Challenge is to eat 3 of the famous fat sandwiches in one setting and you can create and name your own fat sandwich. Not many people can even finish 1 sandwich, so this will be quite the challenege. You can not come to NJ with out eating a fat sandwich.

I would suggest Harold's in Edison- the portions are enormous.
Rut's Hut in Clifton, NJ is a definite stop to sample the rippers- unbelievable, best dogs I've ever tasted! Pete & Elda's in Neptune City, NJ- if you eat the whole pie, you get a t-shirt (shouldn't be too hard for Adam, but it is very tasty pizza). Hobby's in Newark- Big deli sandwiches |
