From Creative Loafing:
Ann Price is the owner of Annís Snack Bar on Memorial Drive, which is famous for its hamburgers: I started Annís Snack Bar because I like to make people happy and this place seems to do that. Its still work, but I enjoy it. I have been open 34 years. I’ve seen this neighborhood go all the way from bad to worse to the bottom, and now it’s coming back up. The rules of Annís Snack Bar [which are posted on the wall] are something I did to make this business a better place. The idea for the Ghetto Burger actually came from a customer. It was originally just a double-chili cheeseburger and some guy said, Hey, Ann, you should call this the Ghetto Burger. I So I added bacon to it and it became the Ghetto Burger. Our popularity makes me very happy. I’m proud that so many people enjoy our food.

I read there is somewhere in Thailand, Bob's B-B-Q and Grill, that until January 2008 held the world record for largest commercially available burger. It has two heads of lettuce, fifteen tomatoes, thirty-five slices of cheese, and other things! It weighs 78.5 pounds and I think it should be tried. Good luck! From a fan in Atlanta.

There's a great steakhouse in south GA called Benton Lee's Steakhouse. They no longer have a contest but people travel hours, even come from Atlanta and parts of Florida to eat there! We've also had Travis Tritt and Donna Douglas (Elly Mae Clampett) visit! You should really check it out. www.bentonleessteakhouse.com

Everyone needs to know about Average Joe's Pizza and Wings in the little town of Milledgeville GA. They have a challenge where one person has 30 minutes to eat a 16inch, 5lb pizza. Thet actually donate half the proceeds to St Judes Hospital. I would like to see more of this kind of caring in the world.

I'm watching Adam get ready to take on the Sasquatch Challenge. I noticed that he is stopping by a Chicken place. I would like to recommend a GREAT Chicken place. It is located in Downtown Augusta, Georgia. The name of the restaurant is Maryland's Fried Chicken. It is a small, locally-owned restaurant with the BEST fried chicken in the WORLD!!! Anyone who has ever eaten there before will tell you: "If you want some of the BEST fried chicken EVER, you will eat at Maryland's Fried Chicken.

Need to check out the BrewHouse Cafe in ATL @ L5Pts.

CHECK OUT THE BIG BANG!!!!!!
You think you can take on the biggest plate of Bangers and Mash anyone has ever come in contact with?? On Brewhouse word, If you can finish this 72oz. mound in under 1 hour, It's on the house!!! Plus you get a picture on our Wall of Shame ( I mean FAME) and a souvenir T- Shirt!!

Other good challenges in GA:

Roma's Pizza in Augusta, GA has a 28-inch pizza challenge worth $1000 cash prize to anyone who finishes it. It has to be completed in 90 minutes.

The B&D Burger Challenge in Savannah is also a must. The "Bring it On" Challenge is a 3lb. Triple Decker burger with a huge basket of fries. If you complete it in 40 minutes or less you get it free and your name is added to the leaderboard. See bdburgers.net for more info. Savannah would also be a wonderful city to taste different foods...its the home of the Lady and Son's restaurant and other delicious places.

I second Dad's Diner in Vidalia, GA. I was passing through town a few months ago on business and stopped for lunch. When I walked in and saw their wall of fame with only one picture of the brave soul who met the "Big Dad" burger challange, I had to ask. The owners showed me more pictures of people attempting to make the wall themselves, but none of them did. The agony on their faces with the partially eaten monster in front of them was priceless!

The burger is mammoth! It's diameter barely fits on a large dinner plate and it stands about 6in tall. It comes on a specially made bun complete with lettuce, tomato, cheese (blue if I remember correctly), and of course some of Vidalia's famous onions!

They have a mini 1/2 lb version of the Big Dad that I tried, and it ranks among the top 3 burgers I've ever had!

The people were great too! Very friendly and funny. Dad's Diner would definitely make for a great show....and a killer lunch!

I hear they're thinking about doing a pancake challenge as well.

Smoke Rings
325 Big Sky Drive
Hiawassee, Georgia 30546
706.896.6467

Visiting friends in this small mountain community. Happened to stop in Smoke Rings Bbq for dinner. Saw that they have challenges and immediately thought of Adam. (Love the show!)
There's two that are offered. This is what was provided to me;
1. "Twice Burned" Wing Challenge. Eat 10 wings tossed in our "Insane Pig" sauce in 10 minutes and receive a free t-shirt, a gift certificate for 12 wings & your picture on our "Wall of Fools" (See your server for rules and a waiver)

or if you can't stand the heat, try our

2. "BBQ Hog" Challenge. Pig out on a whole slab of St Louis Ribs, 1/2 of smoked chicken, an 8oz chopped pork sandwich, 8oz beef brisket, 1lb of fries, 2 cornbread muffins & a 20oz drink. Finish all in 30 minutes and receive a gift certificate and a free t-shirt.

I believe this town would be touched if you considered doing a show there. In the spirit of food challenges, Thanks.

ps, I thought about the wing challenge... I thought. That's about how far I got!
