Please post your food challenge suggestions here for this state. If you have photos and video of the location, please upload them on our What's Your Trip site.

Here are some past posts about locations in this state:

Spike's Junkyard Dogs, Providence

I would like to see Adam attempt the Spike's Junkyard Dog challenge. In Providence, RI, there is a hot dog eatery that serves gourmet quarter pound hot dogs. They serve a wide variety of signature dogs, along with numerous toppings to choose from. For the challenge, a customer must eat 6 quarter pound hot dogs in one hour; he/she may not use the bathroom during this time period. If one completes the challenge, he/she is awarded a t-shirt and his/her picture on the wall. Here is a link to their website:

Christina's Place, Westerly

If you are looking for a great New England breakfast place, Christina's Place is the one. They have the BEST homfries, great omelets and friendly waitresses. The "Challenge" is to consume the Monster, a 12 egg omelet w/ toast and homefries. If you do, it's free! My fav is the Oak St omelet w/sliced soppresata sausage (or "soupy" as it's known around here),ricotta cheese and a laddle full of eggs w/toast and homefries, it's all I can do to finish it. They are located at 75 Oak Street in Westerly's Italian North end, but they are only opened until noon, 7 days a week. 401.596.3406

I would recommend Spikes Junk Yard Dogs hot dog eating contest. Not only are they the best but they are the best late at night. Current record for the most hot dogs, last I checked, was 16. Think you can beat that? http://www.spikesjunkyarddogs.com/.
The best and original location is their Providence location. They even have veggie dogs. And I also promise you it is an experience in itself!

From their postings:

"Do not forget to try their hot dog eating contest. If you can eat six hot dogs in 90 minutes you get a free t-shirt, and if you can beat the store record (varies by location) for the number of hot dogs the tab is on Spike's. It is a contest worth trying."

I would recommend the Nordic Lodge if Adam comes to Rhode Island. It is an all you can VIKING -LOBSTER Buffet. It is loaded with awesome seafood. Shrimp, Oysters, Clams Casino, Alaska King Crab and Little Necks. Not to mention the Prime rib and Petite Filets. I'm not sure if there is a challenge but I think they have record of how many lobsters a person has eaten.

The Spike's Challenge is the most well-known we have, but there are other great places to eat without challenges-Caserta's Pizza in Providence (though I prefer Fellini's Pizza), Doherty's East Ave. Irish Cafe in Pawtucket (great food, beer, and atmosphere), Fireside Cafe in Albion (Lincoln-great pizza and burgers), The Abbey in Providence (known for their burgers), Jim's Deli (lots of sandwich choices in large potions). But the most intriguing concept may be that of Family Style Chicken, something common only in northern Rhode Island. When you order Family Style, you get all-you-can-eat chicken, potatoes (you are usually served a combination of roasted or French fries), pasta with marinara sauce, and salad covered in Italian dressing. No menu options, just lots of food. Wright's Farm Restaurant is the most famous Family Style restaurant we have. Has Adam ever had coffee milk or dynamites (other RI specialties)? And I didn't even get to Federal Hill's Italian restaurants or the seafood we offer. Rhode Island would be a GREAT location for a Man Vs. Food episode!

The Spike's Junkyard Challenge is actually 6 hot dogs in 1 hour and 20 minutes. the record was 18 at the no longer operating Thayer Street location. The Cranston location (now Lulu's Hamburgers & Fries... AND Spikes Junkyard Dogs) boasts a 13 dog record holder. Not only should Adam come try Spikes... but also a hot wiener at the New York System which is located a mere mile or so south on the same road. Hot dogs aside... Charlestown RI has the Nordic Lodge (aka THE VIKING BUFFET!!!!!). Its all you can eat lobsters, prime rib, filet mignon, baked stuffed shrimp, raw oysters and clams, king crab legs and a plethora of other heavenly delights. THIS IS THE GLUTTONS MECCA! THIS IS WHERE ADAM NEEDS TO BE!!!!!!

Adam definitely needs to try some hot weiners! I know the Food Network has been to Haven Brothers before but I haven't seen anyone enjoy a "gagger" before. Plenty of restaurants on Federal Hill...he would totally love Venda's!! Coffee milk, Del's.
