Hi Daniellka,

I am sure there are people who are real experts on Hawaii that you should consult, but you might consider Maui. The area called Wailea is gorgeous and full of really big amazing hotels. There's a ton to do on that island great for couples. Also, Kona Village on the Big Island http://www.konavillage.com/ will give you your own hale surrounded by beautiful black hardened lava. You should get a hale facing the water. (Our's had a hot tub on the front porch! Heavenly!). I think that our mornings there watching the water and drinking coffee were my favorite of the whole trip.

For a honeymoon you might also consider Zihuatanejo in Mexico. We stayed at Casa Que Canta and our room was called Mi Loca Fantasia. We really, really loved it. It is so romantic and lovely! Lots to do: deep sea fishing, riding horses, jet skis, spas, and you and you can check out the smaller towns like Barra De Potosi. Of course everything depends on how much action you want and how much you're able to spend.

CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK!!!!--- Mel

Daniellka,
"The best" of Hawaii depends on what you like. Nightlife - (Oahu) Surfing/Diving? Peace and Quite - Maui, Lanai or Molokai. Hiking? Culture? If you have the time, do 2-3 islands, or stay on one and fly to another one day. I wouldn't take a cruise, you miss the aloha spirit doing that (we've done both hotel and cruiseship, we like hotels better). Here's a couple things I enjoyed: My favorite luau was the Paradise Cove Luau -Oahu. If you want to experience culture, got to the Polynesian Cultural Center (Oahu) and stay for the show. My personal favorite island was Maui (whales, views, less crowded than Oahu, more quaint) but my husband's is Kaui (w/ the Grand Canyon of the Pacific - more open spaces). If only 1 island, do Oahu unless you want quiet and seclusion. I'd take one circle island tour, then rent a jeep or motorcycle and go around Oahu, stopping as long as you want at all the places you saw on the tour. This was the only way we got to the Bonzai Pipeline, since tour buses cna't stop there. Also, I recommend Kualoa Ranch - horseback riding, ATVs, waverunners, helicopter tour, etc, plus a BBQ and you get to see where LOTS of movies have been made since the 40's. For aloha shirts - I like Hilo Hatties. We got matching (silly I know) and we still wear them at home. You can look online and arrange for lei greetings at the airport, which really puts you in the mood from the start. Most hotels will give you either a cheap shell lei or a flower lei at the higher end hotels, but I liked getting a deluxe lei at the airport. The Dole Plantation has great pineapple soft ice cream. If you like art, stop by the Wyland and Christian R. Lassen galleries. If active, take a surf lesson, but plan it out ahead of time so you're not working against the tide. Take an outrigger canoe ride. If u go to the Big Island A trip to Volcanos park is interesting, but I like the trip to the observatory better. I wish we just did the helicopter over Volacnos Park (fyi, you may not see lava, even if it's errupting) because the views are spectacular. I found the orchid hothouse interesting, but my husband was bored.

For peaceful nature experience on a rough road, Road to Hana on Maui.

I hope this helps.

One other thing - if you can afford it Tahiti is really amazing, but much more removed from civilization (and $$$$) than Hawaii. Hawaii is good for those who haven't travelled much, or aren't into diving. Tahiti is better for season travellers and divers. Plus the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen.
