"Passport to Latin America" was nominated for THREE Daytime Emmy Awards Wednesday morning -- for Outstanding Special Class Series, Outstanding Directing in a Lifestyle Show, and (yep) Outstanding Single Camera Editing.
The eligible episode we submitted was the one in Mexico City. And the ceremony is in New York City on June 13.
Hey, I re-registered just to tell you guys this! <grin>

First of all, congratulations for figuring out the new log-on system. David the Editor sounds better than David Who Edits, anyway. So, since the show first aired at night, how did it get a daytime Emmy? Why doesn't it get a night time Emmy too? Does it make any difference? In any case, it's good to hear that it isn't just us who like the show. Samantha et al should be rightfully proud. WooHoo. Wait till they see the new show coming up. Thanks for the up-date, David.

Here's hoping you guys sweep the three categories you're nominated for. By the way, who directed the Mexico City episode?

The last five episodes premiered in the Sunday morning timeslot before being shown Wednesday nights. Not sure why, but we'll take it!

Congratulations! Of COURSE PTLA deserves some awards. And congrats to you--nominated for an Emmy? Sa-weet! Good job! I mean, we all noticed it but it's nice to know that the Emmy people did as well.
So... if I watch the daytime Emmys will I see the PTLA people on there???

Yes and no. There are two ceremonies, the "Creative Arts" bunch (the ones we're up for), and the one that has all the soap stars, and that one's televised. That'll be on a week later, in Los Angeles. But last year they ran a streaming webcast of the Creative Arts ceremony, and you'll see us running up to the podium on that. Last year you could find the webcast at emmyonline.org, so try that on June 13.
That's all I've got to say! I'll check in some other time. We're so happy you enjoy the shows we've made!

What? They don't even televise it? I mean, just because you guys are behind the scenes doesn't mean we shouldn't see you once in a while No matter, I'll just watch online. Bonne chance!

Way to go, Mr. Dean! Bonne chance, indeed! I am proud of you all. It took you long enough to re-register. I suspect you must have been working on mountains of stuff that has accumulated since Sam went to China so long ago, and that you can’t talk about any of it. They’re killing us with the wait time here. Really. And what’s with those members of the Academy with ONLY three nominations? There is absolutely no hope for that bunch if you get passed over this year, as Passport to Latin America was one ambitious and illuminating series. Looking at the Emmy website at the competition, I think you have a decent chance to take them all this year. Hopefully, all you production people, as well as Samantha herself, will continue to be showered with well-deserved accolades and lucrative contracts.
I will try to stop thinking of you as Mr. Whoedits now.
As always, Mother O.
