I am a huge fan of Samantha and her shows. But I would love to see a show that caters to younger travelers. As a college student, I have had a few opportunities to travel and study abroad. I'd like to see a show that focuses on travel for different budgets and locations and attractions that young people can enjoy. Do you agree? Just a warning, GlobalGirl, if I get to you before Mod Ben does: Don't advertise your website, especially in your first couple posts. I got in trouble for doing that, as have many others. A link to your pictures on a hosting site is different though. Just don't advertise your websites. I agree, shows that cater more to young travelers would be nice. But that isn't really what Sam does, and I think that's ok, considering that, while she is certainly not old at all, is not what you would consider a young traveler, and I think she would be out of place on a show like that. 5 Takes, as I think bamanascar said, is a good show for what you're looking for, but it isn't always on. You could also try Globe Trekker. I don't know, look around for some other stuff. Though Sam does a good job of showing what you shouldn't miss. I know, I took her advice on some of my trips.

I think if you are looking for a budget type of travel you may find that Rick Steves 'Europe Through the Back Door' PBS shows, books and website are a good choice - we've used them more for dining than lodging (except in Ireland where they were good for both). Ms. Brown's style of accommodations are more in keeping with what my wife and I prefer.
I think that for the average TV viewer, who often travel vicariously through the TV set, Samantha's choices are ideal.
(I am in no way associated with Mr. Steves, just offering a suggestion!)

Samamtha shows a brief overview of various cities which is applicable to any age and any price level of traveller. Go to any bookstore and look at the travel books for either backpackers or travellers on a budget. DK puts out great travel books with prices on everything. They make it easy to plan a trip. Have fun!

I agree that Samantha and her shows caters to the rich traveller with lots of discretionary income. That leaves out alot of us budget travellers. But I still enjoy watching you know, sometimes it's the personality in front of the camera that makes the show. Samantha Brown was my favorite travel channel show host but now its BRIDGET!! Move over Samantha there's a new sheriff in town.
