Okay, this seems to be THE city we missed. So I figure if a lot of people write on this forum about it then Travel Channel will HAVE to send me there. It's our duty to our viewers!!!
any other places I should visit. I'm in NYC and already missing Latin America. Send me back!

Samantha, Welcome home, where I'm sure you've been immensely missed. Sir Walter Raleigh searched for, but never found, the City of Lost Gold somewhere up the Orinoco River where I guess Venezuela is today. If you could find THAT one, then you really would have a scoop. But it sounds like Cartagena will be high on any return list. Features prominently I believe in Garcia Marquez's 'Love in the Time of Cholera' too (a far more upbeat novel than the title would indicate).
Kelsey has finished her magisterial travelogue in the Euro side, by the way, a sweeping canvas of masterful prose stunning for one so young, but clearly with a big future ahead as well.
Thank you for your presence here tonight, Sam. We do appreciate that.
[Edited the next day to appear much more articulate]

Hi, Sam!
Yes, we must start a petition to send you to Cartagena! And if you don't do a show there, the Travel Channel should at least pay for you and Kevin to have an all-expense paid vacation there!
I hope you've been relaxing at home. I know the Live Earth concert was in NYC last night... could you hear it from your house? Or did you go? I saw it on TV- Bon Jovi was great!
Thanks, Capttuttle for the referral to my Spain journal- I just wanted to talk about it I was so excited! I'm glad other people enjoy hearing about it. My friend, who left for France the same day I left for Spain JUST got back yesterday after a nearly month-long tour of Europe... she even went to Venice for 2 days! Lucky...
So, I'm starting the petition here and signing (er... typing) my name:
PETITION TO SEND SAM TO CARTAGENA

Good evening, Samantha. Itching to go back to explore more of Latin America, I see. Can't say that I blame you.
Atencion! Send Samantha and crew out to film another season of PtLA, por favor. I'm sure there's lots to see in Bolivia, Paraguay, Venezuela, y mas, mucho mas.
Oh and while we're on the topic of future shows, how about specials on Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Dear Travel Channel:
It sounds to me you have an eager employee who wants to be put back to work. How fortunate the TC must be in having their star attraction loving her job so much that she rather take time off from enjoying summer in NYC to keep creating quality programs for their franchise instead. With such dedicated loyalty itching to get back to work, please be so kind as to heed Samantha's request and send her to the city of Cartagena, Columbia as soon as possible!
It is an excellent choice for we all would love to see Samantha present a show from Cartagena. Plus, the show ought to come out quite exceptional and prosperous because Samantha will be doing what she loves at a destination she greatly desires to be in. If Cartagena can't be done at this time, then I'm sure Samantha and the PineRidge crew have plenty of other destinations in Latin America brewing about in the back of their minds where their productive energy can be put to very good use.
I'm certain Latin America would love to experience the joy of having Sam back as well, for it would certainly subdue the angry masses at the Castle doors!
Let Sam's good vibes be enjoyed by all.

Sam, love the new show! I think it's great that you want to go back and visit Cartagena, so i will gladly sign your petition!
If you're fortunate enough to get to go, be sure to visit Playa Blana, Isla Rosario, you might even be able to take a trip to the island of San Andres y Providencia and go snorkeling.
Crossing my fingers for you!

Wow, there is even another topic saying Sam should go to Cartagena! Maybe there should be a whole hour devoted to the city! Or Colombia. The TC should give the viewers what they want! I add my name to the petition again.

Uh... okay...
Even though I've never officially voted...
I just really think Sam should go to Cartagena, by request of the people!

Now the suburbanite side of you is showing. If you were truly a Chicagoan, you would have voted on behalf of several deceased relatives, even while still underage to vote for yourself. Just kidding, or am I?

Travel Channel,
PLEASE send Samantha to Cartagena! I've been blessed by having parents that believe that the world is our classroom. They took our family on a 3 month journey from Colorado to the Patagonia. We spent 3 weeks in Cartagena! I must admit it was due to politics & trying to convince authorities that we were not going to sell our 1968 VW van in Colombia. Regardless, we managed to get acquainted with an extraordinary culture & and spent from dusk to dawn exploring this wonderful city. It is the Travel Channel's obligation to send you there so you can show this amazing place through your eyes with the rest of the world!
P.S. Barranquilla..... not so much.

I vote for a new season of PTLA with hour-long episodes! Send Samantha to Cartagena and also the Galapagos Islands, Patagonia, Mendoza…the list is endless.
My daughter and I are heading to Cartagena for a travel trade show in September. We’ll be staying in the historic district. Since many on this thread are passionate about Cartagena, please send any tips about what to be sure to do there.
Muchas gracias, Jane

Cartagena, and so many other cities in Colombia. Is bad enough that this amazing country was not included from the get go, that not sending Sam to Cartagena, Bogotá, Medellin, and many other Colombian locations, is a huge disservice to your viewers. Maybe your producers can spend a few minutes in youtube and check some videos like Cartagena de Indias:
A story of five elements Colombia is passion Vive Colombia (EN) Colombia:Los Andes Bogota, the coolest city Cartagena de Indias
I hope not to be incredibly disappointed if Colombia is not featured in future programs.
Keep up the great work Sam.

Hi Sam: I have been watching your show for 3 or 4 years now and this is the first time I've attempted to email you. Why you ask? Well....although Rio, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Santiago, and Panama was great....Cartagena is the best....Cartagena is rich with culture and history....latin american and caribbean culture in one.. Don't forget the clear water island beaches which are right off the coast....Rosario Island, Playa Blanca, Coco Liso...just to name a few. Sam I am confident you will not want to leave Cartagena. Respectfully yours, iluvcartagena

You should go to Bogota, Cartagena, Medellin, Cali y BUCARAMANGA (the most beautiful city in Colombia) That is my advice. Cartagena is very beautiful but very small ... Colombia has many beautiful cities. Love. Yoly

Sam, Travel Channel and everyone,
I arrived in Cartagena yesterday and everything people have said on this thread is true. It’s safe, friendly and beautiful. I love it and would recommend it to anyone.
I mainly came here to meet up with a friend from the Falkland Islands (which would also be a great destination for a future show – a British outpost in the South Atlantic, five types of penguins, harems of elephant seals, birds, birds, birds…) and didn’t know quite what to expect.
There are lots of bed and breakfast and boutique hotels in old town, winding, narrow streets lined with shops and cafes. New town has modern hotels facing the coast. And it’s only a couple of hours from Miami.
When will we know if a second season of Passport to Latin America is in the works?

Well, although it now seems unlikely Samantha will be sent to Cartegena on the Travel Channel's nickel, you can at least see it and other Columbian sights as a background in the film version of Love in the Time of Cholera. Turns out its final showing in my city was last night (I'm just finding out all kinds of things this morning) but it could still be showing for many of you (wildly varying reviews of it, most being not too good). And aren't we all mental travelers anyway?

Some of the beautiful places there are San Andres, Cali, Cartegena, Bogota, and Medellin. Please take a look at Colombia is Passion on YouTube.
