Hello everyone
I'm new to this forum, but I've been a big fan of Sam and all the show's she has hosted on the Travel Channel.

I was just wondering if any of you think that 22 minutes of content (minus commercials) is enough to cover each of these countries that Sam visits. Honestly, I just don't think it's enough. Sometimes I finish an episode thinking "That's it?" Plus, I assume Sam and her crews shoot alot more than 22 minutes of video. Is it an editorial decision by Sam and Travel Channel to keep this show 1/2 hour?

djariya I agree fully I feel the same way at the end of the 30 minutes. Sam you can do longer shows. Both Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimern have 1 hours shows tell your bosses that your fans want more cause 30 minutes just isn't enough to do a country right!

MORE SAM! MORE SAM! MORE SAM!

I have the PTE series on DVD. I found the shows are 22 minutes including the credits!!! So really, she show is 21 minutes. That's not enough time at all!!

no offense to WPT fans but poker isn't traveling and they can dump that non travel show and free up some spots for shows like Sams to give the time needed to show the countries their traveling to. Never quite figured out why a poker show is on a travel channel????

scottish2,
The reason why poker shows are on the Travel Channel is because they have earned very high ratings for five years, and they bring in piles of advertising money. To the Travel Channel's credit, more and more actual travel-related programs have been produced and shown lately. If we are lucky, we might see more of Samantha in Latin America and many other places, and maybe for more than 21 minutes per location. It would be a good thing.

By the way, I have read that World Poker Tour will be moving to the Game Show Network next season! Do I hear cheers?

I agree! It makes me wonder if the poker shows are buying time to air their shows on the Travel Channel! Maybe TC is getting money from poker shows! Just a thought.

I think Sam does wonders in the 22 minutes of content that she's given, but I honestly think these shows deserve more than that. Plus, I'm sure there is enough deleted content which could make each episode 45 minutes (minus commercials) The editing is really good, but as a well-seasoned traveler myself, the Travel Channel is not doing these countries any justice.

Orange you're probably right but then it's called the travel channel for a reason. How many shows like Sam's either don't get proper air time or don't get aired at all because non travel shows are filling valuable time slots that could help them run properly. Sam deserves another 22 minutes (Minus ads).

I personally don't tune into a channel named the Travel Channel to watch a game called poker.

IMO, the Europe shows give you a taste of the locale, then you can decide if you want to see more and go there.
L.A. unfortunately has beaches and quaint markets....there isn't much more to say, by Sam or anyone else. The same is true for the Caribbean.
Twenty-two or 30 min. are, in some cases, really stretching it.
