My father-in-law was very fond of Peking Duck. However,he said it was difficult to find really good versions of it. The first time I visited Taiwan, we went to a restaurant that had been a favorite of my father-in-law. Sadly, he had passed away by then. It was right by a train track. The building shook when the trains went by. It was not the cleanest place on earth. The tablecloths needed a good washing and so did the floor. I was afraid we would all get sick from eating there. We didnt, and the Peking Duck was wonderful, the best I have ever eaten. And, I have had Peking Duck in Beijing. One of the things I also remember about the restaurant, were the photos in the entry. They were dreadful, gory pictures of people who had been hit by trains! Not the most appetizing decor. I guess they didnt want you to overeat and waddle off onto the train tracks.

Thanks for the story. I am a huge duck fan as well but have never eaten the authentic Peking duck in Asia. Funny story about the train accident photos. I am not sure what that is about. I have seen Vietnamese magazine that are a combination of girlie photos and people who have been murdered. I guess it is a whole other culture over there.
