A friend I met on my travels in Thailand is now in Vietnam. I was chatting with him a few minutes ago and asked if he had eaten any pho. His response was prepostuous! He said that it never filled him up enough, that the quality was awful and that it was just beef and noodles in water. Water! He said the ingerdients were cheap and gross and it was just food for poor people and then went on to say that the soup he has at home in Yorkshire is much better and actually has flavor. What?! He thinks pho doesn't have flavor? Soup in Vietnam and soup in Yorkshire are completely different! You can barely even compare them. Does he have no idea about how much of the food he eats is cooked with recipes invented by the poor?! No, obviously he doesnt, and so I called him a "food nub." He went on, rudely, to say that I had misspelled nub (I hadn't, there are two spellings: nub and noob) and that I was, in fact, the "food noob." I am definitely not a food nub.
