My husband is Chinese and loves chicken feet. I do not share his admiration for something that has been in a henyard scratching in the dirt and chicken poop. However, to each his own delicacy. I first encountered chicken feet in Taiwan at a friend's house. She brought out a large, steaming bowl of something. When I looked more closely, I saw the FEET! I am a polite person, but I couldnt manage it, so I stayed with some of the other dishes. Throughout the meal a pet bird kept flying through the room screaming: Hu Pei! Hu Pei! Between the bird, the feet, and bottles of wine with ginger roots floating in them, it was an interesting evening.

I might encountered the same dificulties if I think bout where the feet were. but again every animal have their own dirt and to be edible everythign must be cleaned up so does chicken feet. I'll say give it a shot. I always like the one that was served on dimsum menu with some sweet and black bean sauce...drools.

I used to see those all the time in Taipei as well, I only got as wild as Sow's Ear, and one time turtle blood and henneysee XO. I did find out that these chicken feet are one of the major exports for the USA to Asia

In the Caribbean we eat chicken's feet. We cut off all the toes and hard yellow skin covering the skin. Then we well wash with flour, salt and lime juice.
In Trinidad and Tobago we cook it curried, stewed, in callalloo (taro leaves with coconut milk) soup.
We also cook it in chicken feet souse. Souse is like a soup, made from fatty meat well boiled in seasonings and hot pepper, served with sliced cucumbers and onions, and sprinkled with a few tablespoons of lime juice. It can also be made with pig's feet. I prefer pig feet souse to chicken feet souse!!

In the Philippines they are sold by street vendors everywhere along with chicken gizzards pretty much everything that is thrown out. BBQued on skewers and doused with vinegar. Chicken feet there are also called ADIDAS.

I grew up eating Chinese food, but chicken feet (or, if translated literally, "Phoenix Claws") is still one of the myriad of things I won't eat.
I'm not much of a fan of cartilage and skin, but contrary to bigdaub's conjecture, I do like chicken wings!

My dad always said that chicken feet is only as good as the sauce you cook it in.

I love chicken feet especially the ones that have been braised in a thick soy sauce with chinese clack mushroom, it is so yummy. I use to eat it as breakfast food when served with Wonton mee. They just have the noodle and chicken feet with musroom and some blanced mustard green on top, delicios! I ha evnt had it in 13 years cos I moved to USA but my allegience is still to good Chinese food!!
