Our creative meat producers here today would make Native Americans proud.
The idea, of hunting an animal, and letting nothing go to waste... Ahh yes. Such a noble ideal. We make it extreme. Take a cow or pig for instance.. First you get leather, then the meat cuts, bone is ground into meal/protien for dog food. ears/hooves for dog treats,The unusable stuff leftover there..divided into two parts, fat and gristle, and meatier areas like the brain lungs etc. Brains, lungs, etc.. are eaten by people regularly.. but not as much as is produced. it gets dumped into the bin for other foods we love. But first to the gristle/fat. The first sifting of it goes to make a wonderful product we call souse meat. The leftovers.. rejects if you will..are processed and seasoned to make "Spam". And you think that's the lowest step? Nope. Stuff not up to spam standards are processed into "Treet" Likewise... leftovers from "treet" go into "Imitation Processed Meat Products" which have soybeans added for texture. Now for the meaty stuff. Ahh Yes, the lungs, brains, Pig Snouts, Testicles, etc. Intestines are used to make sausages casings. or chitterlings if eaten. yum. Sausage... Is probably the most noble product of this area. It's made the best selections/most solid cuts. Next step down are all beef hot dogs. Which aren't really all beef. (Look at the ingredients closely) Yup. Lotsa fillers. Balogney, comes next. Yes, As the cuts become more blended, the more fillers/seasonings are added for texture/flavor. You wouldn't be able to eat it without them. it would be like hard tofu. The next step down.. are the red hot dogs. The 60 cent packs you see on sale. The reason it's red.. is because... it would be white as a sheet.. otherwise. Yum. Vienna sausages are next on our list. Although it isn't a sausage, it's squirted through a machine and pressed into one. Ok. Now.. You've waited this long. Here we go for absolute rock bottom. The last Item I mentioned has remnents that can't be solidified. Hence you have "POTTED MEAT" Yep. Vienna Sausages are "Potted Meat" with a hard on. Potted meat is about as low as you can go. Large amounts of powdered bone. eyes. Slurry, Unusable protein grade organs. It's acutally much lower grade than dog or cat food. Try and feed it to your pet. They won't even eat it. But yes, we smear it on a cracker and chomp away. I'll spare you the stuff about "Imitation Imitation Pasturized processed cheese Products" Yes they exist. Well that's it for now. Until Later. -Floyd http://myspace.com/prettyboyfloydiii |
