To jump in on these "death row" food choices, I'd have to say a little somethin'-somethin'about a Chinese place out here in L.A. I'd consider for my last meal. The place is known for their homemade/handmade noodles, which they serve in a beef broth with big chunks of beef. This with a couple orders or potato onion pancake (which has the consistancy of a pan-bread) to dip in the broth is about as simple & delicious as it gets. Did I mention its dirt cheap, too?? Tacky decor, cheap chairs, and an indoor koi pond that's only got 3 inches of water in it so the koi are half out of the water put the finishing touches on this place! Pet the koi - they like it!!

In the "just plain strange" category I'd have to mention 2 (count 'em - two) Chinese Islamic places not far from the aforementioned Chinese place that substitute lamb for all the pork dishes. You haven't seen it all until you've sat in a crowded restaurant as the only white person in sight, amongst tables loaded with Chinese and traditional Islamic families (complete with appropriately head-scarved Islamic wives). Now THERE'S a combination you don't see everyday!

believe it or not, there are a good amount of muslims in china, and islamic chinese food is delicious!

This reminds me that I haven't been to the place in a long time.....I'm thinkin' its time for some lamb in plumb sauce again!
