Last year my boyfriend and I went to Europe for 100 days with $4000 USD total. We worked a lot and played it cheap in some pretty expensive countries, yet we always felt spoiled. We are in our late 30's/early 40's so we couldn't survive on gut rot food like when we were younger. Our favorite place to eat in all of northern Europe was the kitchen of the mosque in Edinburgh. Just ask for directions to the 'mosque kitchen'. We asked a fella on the street where one could get a good meal for a decent price and wallah. For 3 pounds (approx 6 US bucks)the one huge bowl fed both of us for the day...rice, dall, curry chicken and deliciously spiced veggies. There are other choices too. Just watch out for the pigeons! We spent a lot of time in Antwerp too if anyone has questions about Belgian waffles or curryworst.
