When I was in High scholl back in Semarang, Indonesia. the most terrifying food that I ever try is Cobra's meat. The first time I try , I'm so affraids that I wasnt able to swallow it. couples bites and mounchies of this stuff, I'm suddenlly feel delightful. Cobra meats actually taste very good. It taste like eel only it have more bones. since then my eyes are open to try new stuff.although I got bad experience on that cobra shops. just like on Bourdain show, when someoen order snake heart or blood, a tamer will pull out a life cobra from a bag. unlike the open wide store on bourdain show. the place that I went into is more compact(small kiosk on the side of the street).
one time when I was eatign there, the tamer pull out a cobra just right behind me. before killing the cobra. usually the tamer will let cobra strikes the glass behind my table to release the poisons before killing it. to make thing worst, the tamer said to me " dont move". fortunatelly nothing happens. but if anything happens that day I'm not really worry since the kiosk is right in front of hospital. =)

Your courage is commendable. In Taipei, there is a street where restaurants have the snakes in front, so you can make a choice right there. My stomach is not very strong, so I didnt take advantage of the offerings. My husband, who is Chinese, is deathly afraid of reptiles and amphibians. He wouldn't even come up on the sidewalk. In Hong Kong, they also have restaurants that offer snake meat, and tout 7 snake soup. It must be the right combination of snakes. In China, snakes are put in bottles of wine. I won't eat eels, squid or octopus, so I'm not going to eat snake, either. However, to each his own delight. I do like frog legs. Can't say much for snails, but maybe I havent had them fixed properly. I think they taste like worms smell on a rainy day. Since you are an adventurous eater, you will have to try alligator meat. I am told by native Floridians that it is good.

hmm actually I already try alligator meat. It was couple months ago when there was a food festival in Seattle. I quite disappointed since they deep fried it and served it just like that(everything almost taste the same when it deepfried >.<Wink. it taste like a hard fille-mignon.
back to snake meat, I tried two types of snake I think . one was cobra and the other one more like boa snake or pyton I forgot what type it was. the other snake taste pretty much the same however, it more meaty and have pretty big bone just like tuna. I think someone should trick you to try it first before you know what did you eat. It works great when my mother tricks my uncles from germany to eat frogs. she told him it was a chicken legs or somethin. later the day he said he love it and want to eat it again. when my moms and his wife told him what it was. he quite suprised but then he start to love eatign frogs.

If you're ever in New Orleans you'll have to try gator on a stick (alligator sausage). It's good eaten.
