I am looking forward to Monday's show about Ghana because that's where I spent my whole summer. I stayed just north of Accra, near Nsawam. I hope he gets to eat everything I ate, especially kenkey (fermented corn), fou fou (dough made of yam, plantain, and cassava), and lots and lots and lots of fish (apparently the head is the best part). Also, around Accra, You can buy food right out of your car window. Sitting at a stoplight, you can yell "Oranges" out the window and vendors come running to vie for your business... sometimes you can get 20 oranges for 10,000 cedis (about $1.10).
I also hope they ride in a tro tro which is typically a 15 passenger van from 1988 fitted out to seat 20 people and an economical way to get around town.
People in Ghana are so nice to Obrunis (people from afar) and love to stop and talk. It's a great place to start if you've never been to Africa before because nearly everyone speakes english and it's pretty safe.
Two things to remember...
1) They expect you to haggle, on everything. Ask, "How much?"... whatever they say, offer half and be prepared to pay up to 3/4 bu have fun in the bargaining!
2) Itis always polite to greet anyone you interact with. Say:
"Please good morning/afternoon/evening; how are you?"
"I am fine, and you?"
"Please, I am fine"

anybody know how to prepare any of the amazing stews etc we saw on this episode? My mouth was watering almost anytime food was being served, ( and I had had a decent meal not long before viewing the show.)
