This show has a really great new edgy approach. It makes Andrew Z. look like an amateur and what Anthony B. is striving for. Just be careful Andrew (is Andrew Anthony his real name?) not to push your confidence too far - there is a fine line between irritating smugness and entertaining boldness.

Lighten up!!! Talk about arrogant and smug - I cant beleive some of these posts!!!

I absolutely enjoyed the show. If you want dry, in depth analysis of other cultures then watch something else. The show was light and entertaining....Andrew's (or the writers) sense of humor was fantastic. My 65 yr old dad was visiting when the show was on - we both laughed out loud - several times.

Great show - keep up the good work!

I agree, this is a great show if you are the kind of person who:
-If you just can't wait until land in an unfamiliar country dso you can grab a bite at the local McDonalds
-If you try to make locals understand your english by speaking slower and louder.
-If you Think that going to Dubai and saying "Durka Durka" to the locals is funny
-If you Think Places like London, Los Angeles, or Vancouver are the limits of your comfort zone.
-If you think the above places qualifies as exotic.
-If you have ever thought that going to New York is a great vacation idea.
-If you prefer Carl's Jr. to Kobe steak.
-If you can't point out where Asia is on a map (you'd be surprised)
-If you are the reigning Miss South Carolina
-If You enjoy Pauly shore movies
-If you actually think jokes about starving kids are funny
-If you are a travel channel executive who is desperately looking for a hit and lower you standards to the level of a "flava of love" contestant to do so.

I don't know what to think. I was in Tokyo last month visiting my brother and he even doesn't get the Maid Bars. I saw 30 something year olds walking around in those outfits and believe me it was not a pretty sight.
I've had Kobe beef at a omakase meal and I thought it was a little overrated. Sure it melts in your mouth but flavor wise I thought it was lacking. Perhaps it's just not my thing just like foie gras isn't either. The Japanese palate tends to like certain rich foods such as tempura, tonkatsu, toro (which I like but if you eat too much of it you will feel ill). How else can you explain the popularity of Kewpie mayonnaise there. They even put it on pizza. No, I didn't go to Tokyo to eat pizza. My brother warned me about it. Being Asian, my brother and I ate mostly Japanese.
Maybe Andrew Anthony was just being honest. I thought he was funny too, especially at admitting that he didn't get some cultural quirks and customs that you encounter when you travel.

Hmmm...after some serious self evaluation and personal reflection I can honestly say that I wouldnt choose Carls Jr to a new taste experience. I have never eaten McDonalds while in Europe, Mexico or even in while I am home in the U.S. for that matter. I dont care for LA, havent been to London but I would visit there as well as Vancouver. I have never seen a Pauly Shore movie (but if you want to tell me about your fav i would be glad to listen).

You take yourself way too seriously....and I think you may be just a little judgemental.

If you didnt like the show - dont watch it!!!
I enjoyed the humor and honest viewpoint of the host. I plan to watch it again next Monday!!!

Snarky- Good
Andrew Anthony- BAD

My first take on this host was that he was maybe trying to parrot the style of Anthony Bourdain....NOT! Anthony Bourdain might be sarcastic, grumpy, bedragled, etc etc but he clearly goes out of his way to show the utmost respect to his hosts. And it shows!!

What next out of Andrew Anthony's mouth- "Pull my finger?" His 2nd grade antics are just not funny. PLEASE make room for another show!!

dkh123,
great suggestion. ! didn't watch the show this week! nor will i ever, however, I have to subject myself to the awful adverts for this garbage. but since you are now on the defensive. (and by your somewhat complete defensive retort, you are still in fact Miss South carolina? ......check youtube.....).
I have personally spent months in each of the places covered in the show, save New Zealand, and it is the cultural equivalent of throwing coins in the river so beggar children can retrieve them, all for you entertainment.
I reqcognise the Andrew Anthonys inh every port of call. they are a bane to the responsible cultural traveler. This show seems to glorify that. It puts upon the pedestal what true world travellers detest the most.

The people that actually enjoyed this show probably like campy sitcoms that last a season and Tivo American Idol and Flavor of Love. This show is complete garbage and the host is a blabbering idiot.
